"Recommendations are key to interviews here."

As well as having a local address, and a demonstrated willingness to grab as much 150% and JA time as possible- especially when there are junior guys on furlough. JC will later thank you for teamwork and extra effort- especially if you are able to boost your total monthly credit to the 150-200 hr range.

How long is training and what type of pay do you get during that time?

6 - 8 weeks. The first half is in Miramar. This is were indoc, systems, and FTD's are held. You then move to MIA for the sims. The off to IOE.

I went straight through, but I have heard of guys getting a week or 2 off due to sim or IOE schedules.

Pay is 1000 per month, and 750 per diem. They buy your single occupancy hotel and a car rental per crew when you are in MIA. Normal pay begins at the completion of IOE.

It can't go away under the terms of the current contract.

The $750 is for expenses (it is not called per diem and is unrelated to your base as a new hire)

The hotel also is regardless of your base as a new hire.
