Well, for what it's worth, I have the luxury of flying for an airline that it is very rare to know what the politics of who you are flying with are. Really, I could care less. As nutty as people on the far right Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh side of the equation are, the far left can be almost as bad. Politics simply almost never come up in the cockpit. That's the way it should be.
Anyone who equates ALPA with "left wing" is simply a less worldly, somewhat ignorant (not in an insulting way, but simply have a very narrow perspective on the world) person who can't see that the airline pilot profession is what it is because of ALPA. Whether you are SWAPA, APA or even non union, if not for ALPA we would all be compensated much less.

The far left are far worse.
ALPA is a dinosaur and should meet the same fate.

Well said dan.

Brit you appear to be a case in point. The ultimate hypocrite highly paid union worker who hates unions. You are why the profession is in such bad shape- refusing to support your union politically when that support is critical to your unions success. And hook, line, and sinker buying the fix news republican talking point that left leaning Americans are your enemy instead of the members of both parties who keep this country's economic and political relationships bought and paid for. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TznmpCi3Q08

I'm not at odds with alpa on a systemic level- just with their particular role in our acquisition.

Systemically, there is very little I disagree with Pcl on and respect many of his views.

So because I think ALPA is worthless that makes me a hypocrite?
I did not say I was anti union, I said ALPA is worthless and it is.
ALPA is a business sucking money from it's members for little in return
Too many lazy fat cats in Herndon drawing ridiculous pay on the back of the line pilots.
If the profession is in such bad shape it's because of the greed of ALPA.

Not really-
And I didn't say that. The majority of airline pilots are republican. Most pilots I've met that don't contribute to our union PAC's are republicans anti govt/small govt ideologues. Most republicans run on an anti-union platform. Most pilots do not support unions as a theory except for theirs. Bottom line: republican airline pilots have failed miserably at gaining political support from their party for our profession.

You said left wingers are a much bigger problem- I disagree

Fair enough.
I am, however, not a Republican. I do not and will not contribute to a PAC that supports the left wing agenda.
ALPA totally lost me and many others with their support of Obama.

ALPA has never supported President Obama, you moron. ALPA hasn't endorsed a candidate for President since 2004.

John Prater can support whoever he wants personally. ALPA never did, dipsh!t.

ALPA is a member of the AFL-CIO, but ALPA doesn't automatically endorse everything that the AFL endorses. Again, ALPA has not endorsed a presidential candidate since 2004. You can try to argue with facts all you want (and I know wing nuts love to do that), but the facts are still the facts.
