Good luck to all.

Any of y'all had contacts called and then received the dreaded letter, or know of anyone who did?

Waiting on the Aug DB myself - the 31st I hear.

My last name begins with a "B" and here are my stats

Typed, May 9,2004
Called for interview, May 24, 2004
Interviewed, June 10
July DB
Call to continue, July 26
Drug test July 27

If you don't have a letter stay close to the phone. I know it's difficult if you have not got a call yet, but keep this in mind. Kim called me at 1100, she had to call me back to make arrangments for my drug test close to my home which occured at about 1500, in other words, if she and others are having to do this for other pilots that all takes time.

So stay by the phone, feel the heat... and stay cool!

Dreaded Letter

I interviewed in May, pushed into the July DB.

References checked in May.

Received "the letter" today.

I know of one other person who interviewed, references checked, and received the letter.

Good Luck to All.

Great news for all you guys that got the call! I was wondering how long after your interview did it take for your references to get called?

Thanks,
tytl

Tytl,

It took mine about a week. I had 7 of my 8 references called (some were guys who wrote me letters and some were from current contact list).

Good luck,
TurboJet

prep or no prep

To those of you who are awaiting an interview,

I know this subject has been beat to death, but to throw my two cents in:

I wanted to do whatever I could be successful in this process and to appear relaxed and confident in the interview. So I prepared, I read everything I could and then I decided to work with someone. I sought help from www.EmeraldCoastInterviewConsulting.com

I think the prep I did was extremely helpful, not that Albie gives you the answers, that's not what he's does and that's not what you want. He and his wife help you become more confident with your interviewing skills. It's an education. (especially if you've been out of the game for a while)
It was worth every penny. Thanks Albie and wife.

I have been blessed today to receive a call from a woman with an angelic voice saying something about "continuing the process". I truly am fortunate.

Thank you Southwest,
JP

Interviewed on a Tuesday, 4 references called the following Monday and Tuesday. Anybody know why some get 7 or 8 ref's called, others a lot less?

Congrats

To those who have gotten the call today or who will in the next few days, well done. It is an exciting time and one that you will remember for a long time. Take the time to write down or record your thoughts, your emotions, your excitement & put those comments/tapes in a safe place.

After you've just gotten through flying with a difficult capt (new difficult Capt story!), yes we have our fair share at Southwest or you've been re-routed to death due to unforeseen changes & the other crews on the van are whining about it or just whenever you need a good pick me up, take your comments back out & re-read/listen to the tape again & it will be amazing how much better you'll feel.

Not everyday will be like this day believe me but the good will far outweigh the bad....no one needs to tell you how fortunate you are, least of all me or others on here...what I will say is that your attitude is what got you through this difficult time and impressed enough folks to get you hired at Southwest...for that you should be commended.

Please look around you & find those same types of individuals & mentor them like you have been mentored to; help them through this process...we need many more like you & don't forget, some of these individuals are the folks who aren't receiving phone calls but letters...we will have left a lot of good folks on the side for another try at a later time & to them I encourage you to don't be bitter but know that you're fate with Southwest is far but decided.

For those, you're one time in the batting cage maybe wasn't as successful as some others but that doesn't mean you shouldn't (& Southwest doesn't want you too either...they praise perserverance greatly!) continue to work on those things you can control, flying time, PIC time, job experiences, contributions to the community & the aviation industry, etc.

Those things can & will make a difference when you come around the next time, the choice will be yours....don't let this temporary setback deny Southwest the opportunity to see you again so they can see what a great match you will be for Southwest.

To all who have given themselves up to this process, thanks....your families are lucky to have you & so will Southwest. Go out & enjoy your families & celebrate those things that are most precious to you...family & friends.

Your life can change in an instant!

I just want to say...very, very well put Chase.

Good luck to all and keep working hard to achieve the things your heart desires. Motivation and Determination are just 2 of the instruments that keeps our lives moving in the direction we want it to go.

Keep the blue side up.

Congrats to all, and best of luck to those who are reapplying again next year!

Quick question: I'm curious to know what items are considered during the SWA DB. Does anyone have any specifics to share on this?

Congrats all who got call today. Come on in, the water's fine!

Thanks, it is!! But, don't make fun of my floaties, they told me December/January for class! It gets tiring holding your beer while trying to dog-paddle.
:)

SWA Here we come!

Got the call yesterday about 14:20 CMT. See you in big "D".
Good luck to all waiting and hang in there.

What is the average time between applying online and getting called for an interview.. It,s only been 2 weeks since I applied so I know it will be awhile. before they will even process my application..

It's hard to say since so many folks applied in January after an extended period during which no apps were accepted. In my case, I applied in early Jan 04 (just as the online app system came up) and was called for an interview in May 04. My interview date was 15 Jun 04.

Applied March 2003 w/type. Not so much as a peep so far.
I got my type at K&S on 31 March, got called for an interview on 28 April, interview on 12 May, got "the call" 22 Jun, very lucky.

Military only, in 21 years, about 4200 hours military (T-38 and F-16) , about 4900 or so with the civilian conversion, 2300 instructor time. Don't know why I got called and azxj didn't, no idea. However, I am very grateful to be swimming in the pool with my bros and sis's. And, no, I'm not using floaties, I'm loungin' on a raft with a nice cold one! Cheers all,

I'm another lucky stiff floating along. Applied 12 Jan, Typed 1 Feb, Interviewed 21 June, July DB.

Like Stash, 22 years military, C-130, Falcon 20, T-34C. 4500 TT, 3500 turbine PIC, 2500 IP.

Unbelievably grateful for the opportunity so soon. Hang in there & keep working every angle, you never know which one will be THE ONE.

Good luck to all.
