737-200 Advanced = JT8-9 (14.5K) or JT8-17 (16K).
The original Frontier had an all 737-200 Advanced fleet. The Basic models were a struggle in DEN, so they really needed the Advanced model. The -17 Advanced model was a nice performer. There may have been -15 engines out there too, but I am not sure who had them. The Basic models were manufactured mostly in the late '60s. The Advanced from the mid 70s to early 80s.
I think you read me wrong. When I say there is no such thing as a -200 advanced it was a play on words. Kinda like that is no such thing as a B-727 Advanced. It's all 1950's technology. There is nothing advanced about it.
So there is more thrust per engine. I flew an MD-80 with a JT-8 that produced 21,000 lbs of thrust yet they didn't call it the MD-83 advanced.
See what I mean?
