ATL airport is the size it is because of Delta and it's connections. It's not the O/D market. Contrary to the article, Airtran used the massive cuts Delta made after 9-11 for a huge expansion. They were upset when Delta added back capacity again later? SWA did the same taking advantage of Delta's cuts in Orlando and DL Express to gain a foothold. Delta competes with SWA all over the country. I don't see much SWA pressure on Delta in DTW, MSP, NYC, SLC, SEA or any of the other hubs. Delta probably looks forward to the demise of Airtran and competing with a carrier with higher costs and no first class product.

That's a big "and". I'm sure that the AAI pilots aren't feeling the family love, and judging by the way that SWA/SWAPA have been threatening them, I don't think they ever will.

The only hope for family at SWA is if SWAPA finally starts treating their AAI brothers with respect, as equal partners in this merger and the future of SWA.

If SWA/SWAPA agree to uphold the process agreement and to implementation of an integrated seniority list that is a product of a fair process, not one that is based on threats and coercion, there might be hope, but I don't see that happening. Too much fear and hubris.

Absent fair and respectful treatment of the AAI pilots, I only see a dysfunctional family at SWA/SWAPA for the foreseeable future.

Disagree with the little overlap. You can fly other company between most domestic stations. Even with your premise, why have you not crushed DL in SLC?
