This will be the first time an effeminate looking aircraft has taken off from ATL. I'm all for it.

shouldn't delta be SAVING money and not donating it to charity?

will elizabeth hurley always be on this airplane? that will be a draw.

...and if you fly it, it will be the first time an effeminate pilot has been at the controls.

You got me on that one!

And for the guy who calls himself Juvat (you're not one), again the invitation stands - anytime anyplace. In the mean time, going back to the last idiotic thoughts you had- care to explain how NWA & Delta are losing 100s of millions a day, or how you come up with either one of those airlines having 5 billion in debt? These are some of the few thoughts you had that aren't insults, and they are so comical it gives you away.

By the way, that's $5 billion with a "B". And that's just one airline, not the combined debt that a merger would represent. Investors don't care about routes. They care about return on investment. Losing hundreds of millions of dollars a day (literally!) does not bode well for a merger. However, it does point ominously to a liquidation--at least on Delta's part.

Hey...they better

As long as the F/A's will be doing Oxygen mask Demos, seatbelt instruction, and also the demo of the all important self-breast exam.......because I am all about women's health.

We've been wondering this at work (bankruptcy is new to me):

Do companies have any restrictions regarding donations to charity while in bankruptcy?

It seems like maybe they should. At least they should be restricted from creating new donation ideas while creditors and shareholders lose their investments.

What does everyone else think?

First the gay pride parade (not that there's anything wrong with that), now a pink airplane....who's running this airline??? They need a new slogan: "Queer airplane for the straight pilot."

From the September 23rd Boston Globe......

Look! Up in the sky! It's Big Papi

By Peter J. Howe, Globe Staff | September 23, 2005

With 46 home runs this season and 18 game-winning hits, Boston Red Sox designated hitter David ''Big Papi" Ortiz has earned millions of Sox fans' love and an inside track to most valuable player honors.

The D'Angelo sub-shop chain has christened a Big Papi sandwich -- consisting of ham, turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise -- in his honor.

And now he's going to get his own airplane.

In a first, Delta Air Lines Inc.'s Song affiliate that offers discount fares and on-board television, is rechristening one of its 48 Boeing 757's Big Papi. Song plans a dedication ceremony at Logan International Airport Tuesday morning with Ortiz to unveil the newly lettered jet. Big Papi is the first Song plane with a name.

Song, which Delta launched in April 2003, has close links to the Sox. Song flies to five Florida destinations from Logan, including Fort Myers, home of the Sox spring training camp. As ''official airline of Sox spring training," Song donates free flights for patients at the Sox-supported Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana-Farber Cancer Center in Boston to visit spring training and meet players.

The Big Papi plane also will help Song's publicity efforts in Boston, where it launched nonstop service to Los Angeles and San Francisco this month. As Delta grinds through a $28 billion bankruptcy restructuring, it's likely to shift additional flights to the more profitable Song brand.

Song marketing vice president Tim Mapes said naming the plane for Ortiz reflects the fact that ''Boston is one of Song's core markets, and we believe it's important to support the community and the interests that are important to its residents. We know that the Red Sox and fan favorite David Ortiz are clearly at the top of the list, as is The Jimmy Fund, the team's charity."

The Big Papi plane, Mapes added, also reflects ''the Song spirit of having a little fun in the skies."

Anyway....GO SOX.
