The conditions and restrictions on the SLI award state that UAL furloughs will not be able to bump or displace CAL pilots from their current position. That means that they actually have to be recalled to their position on on the UAL side before taking our seniority from us on the CAL side, right?

Virtually none of the involuntary furloughs would be back to work if not for this merger. They are only working now thanks to the good graces of the CAL MEC. If this benevolence allows them to immediately leapfrog us on the list it will be an even bigger windfall than they already got!

It is what it is - move on. What you are saying doesn't sound right to me but who knows?

Think you are reading it wrong. By not bumping back means the company has to be recalling or hiring for them to return. They can't just show up and force a guy out. When they are recalled they will go right into there spot on the list for which ever equipment they are offered in training. But they could not in 2018 show up and take a Capt spot, as it's only what is offered by the company...

We are never going to really know if they would have done the same for us, but it's best we give them the benefit of the doubt.

If they "leapfrogged" you it's because they have longevity, right? We should acknowledge that as a best practice. This is just the current merger and longevity might be all our best friend in the next one.

Now that we are all one list when do the former CAL guys get issued their scalpels?

A little levity will go a long way right now.

In all seriousness your second paragraph is spot on.

So this had nothing to do with Seniority? The arbitrator was tasked with producing a Longevity List Integration? Seniority is simply "senior" or "junior". Integrate that and you vaccinate one side from being infected by the problems of the other.
