LOL! I guess this recently happened???

Mr. rjacobs himself said a month or two back a captain tried to take the controls from him once during a landing and he "fought with him" and got a nice landing out of it after all. My response was "WTFO?"

Hopefully all the TSA furloughs find better jobs soon, and if a few of you could get hired on at AWAC, we'd be happy to have you in our pilot group.

I guess when I said that I didnt phrase it correctly. I did not fight him on the controls, that is stupid. He tried to take the airplane in the flair after not having hand flown it for the past 15 mins and didnt know what the wind was doing. He never said my airplane, like you are supposed to. I held the controls in that were appropriate while he tried to over control the aircraft. I did not try to do one thing and him do another, I tried to keep him from over controling the aircraft. He does this with every person he flies with, not just me. Every landing with every person, he tries to "help" in the flair when help is not needed. He does not brief this nor is it wanted or needed in many situations. I will be the first person to ask a captain for a bit of help in a stiff crosswind or gusty conditions, but when they try to take the airplane in the flair because of what ever reason they have, say "My Aircraft" and ill let go, until then, its still my aircraft. OK, thats done. no more talking about that.

I have resumes out at AWAC, Expressjet, Pinnacle, PSA, IslandAir, Horizon, Mesa, and I was going to go to the skywest career thing, but was stuck in IAD. I guess I wouldnt qualify for a job there anyway since I dont have the 1000 total time.

Now from one of my favorite movies...

Joanna: You know what, Stan, if you want me to wear 37 pieces of flair, like your pretty boy over there Bryan, why don't you make the minimum 37 pieces of flair?
Stan, Chotchkie's Manager: Well, I thought I remembered you saying that you wanted to express yourself.
Joanna: You know what, I do want to express myself, okay. And I don't need 37 pieces of flair to do it.
[flips off Stan]

Try to FLARE the aircraft next time and then the captain might not need to take the controls.

I did FLARE the airplane, he didnt think I had enough crosswind controls in so he added, FULL CONTROL INPUTS, extremely abrubtly, not a safe thing to do 3 feet off the ground. Damn monday morning QB'ing, you all werent there, but im sure you have all flown with a captain that did this. If he wants the airplane its his, just tell me.

Of course they need pilots, when they take the 13 700's from ASA, then get the 13 900's ASA was to get to replace them, as punishment for our negotiations and higher rates.....and the fact that Skywest agreed to fly 90 seaters for 50 pay. So, if you are keeping score at home.......26 growth airplanes for Skywest, net 13 aircraft loss and a base closure for ASA!
Great to be here!

and what has alpa done to remedy the situation? Oh yeah a strike vote.

want that 300 hours quick Otto? come to Las Vegas and fly the ditch, or haul some some skydivers. Either way is quick time. Hope that helps.

I've got an interview with Skywest on Tuesday in SLC. Just wondering if anybody knows how long it takes for a decision. Will they let me know there at the interview or does it take awhile to hear back. They said the class date was July 31st so there's not much time in between.

one guy i know got a yes right there at the interview. (they were trying to fill the couple remaining slots in a class that started a week from then) another one was called about an hour after the interview. and still another one got a call a couple days after.

Yeah same here, sent in my resume on paper and via internet 3 weeks ago. No calls or emails yet.

How long is it taking guys to get calls for an interview???

My guess is that they're working their way through all the people that attended the group interviews before calling for online apps etc. There were about 50 or so people at the SLC interviews. Just a guess though...

I interviewed in April, and it took two weeks to the day to get the news. Bad news. If wish they'd cut back that 6 month reapplication wait to 3 months, it's killing me waiting.

If you know anyone in the company (even a new-hire in GS), have them walk your stuff in to Cammile. If you meet the mins, you should get a call in a few days.

Let me guess... You have flown 121 in the past??? What is it with these people? Where do they get their standards from? Must be one heck of an airline! I know many great pilots with a lot more knowledge than me and a great attitude to go with, and they got denied from that airline. Too bad.

Yeah, previous 121 time. I have several friends there who had previous 121 time, and most of them had to go through 2 interviews. What's frustrating is I made it through all phases, only to get denied, so I have no idea what to work on for next time <shrug>

70 newhires every 3 weeks through the rest of the year

Can they really keep that pace for the rest of the year? I think they may want to do that but I don't think that can be done.
