Huh? It's actually because your management hired more people then they needed. If you're talking about flying, then please, Skywest has displaced and invaded so many other regionals with your low ball contracts. That is why nobody likes you guys. We all know the reason they haven't furloughed a couple of hundred pilots is because they're waiting for Mesa to tank. Is that CRJ1000 training flight in PSP still on?

Thats what the GJ guys do not understand, they keep talking about how the majors, corporate departments, and cargo carriers do not care. True they do not care because the people that do the hiring have no idea what GJ is, however as people like me start filtering into the jobs listed above we remember what GJ did, so the tide will slowly turn, GJ will become a dirty word to most hiring boards.

I do not work on tips. I have no problem working for a very wealthy man, he pays us great, treats us well, while on the road we have the company credit card, and he insist that we stay at the very nice hotels, and eat very good meals, he gets us a rental car, and on occasion tickets to shows that might be in town. Christmas time we got a bonus that was 15 percent of my annual salary. Say what you want, I would not trade my job for your job. Heck I can not even respect you because of where you chose to work.

The guy is out of line. He's trying to spread his crusade because some distant cousin of his was at TSA or something of which GJ pilots had nothing to do with him or his cousin. It's not a scab ops. It's unionized. That's all you need to know, there is no cause to be a deuche. You can't blame someone for the stupidity of a certain pilot group or their leaders.

Listen man, I've got several friends at 9E and the majority of the stuff I post is exagerated for shock value. Do I want Pinnacle to disapear? Of course not. That would mean several of my friends would be out of work.
The future of Pinnacle is unclear. Unless they begin to receive airplanes from Delta, the flying could be cut quickly as the 50 seat routes begin to be replaced by more efficient airplanes. The entire merger with Delta will be complete in around a year from now. The 200's at Pinnacle are NOT scheduled to be painted in Delta colors. Unfortunately time is ticking but no one knows the hour it will be revealed.
Hope is the only thing to hold on to as the summer turns to fall. I wish all my ALPA brothers and sisters the best. Good luck with whatever happens.

Skywest is NOT talking about furloughs. SAPA keeps bringing it up in their silly forum and they don't really represent Skywest pilots. Most Skywest pilots think SAPA is a joke and don't even bother to vote when they hold elections. Skywest management has consistently stated that they WILL NOT furlough unless there is a significant change/event with one of our code shares.

Read carefully. No, there is zero comparison to Eastern. With Eastern, there was a strike and a picket line was established. There were scabs that crossed the picket line. These scabs were placed on a list. TSA pilots are not on strike. GJ pilots are not scabs. Get it now?

No, I don't fly for GJ and I do agree that it sucks that GJ was created as an alter ego to TSA. (btw; Was this in violation of a scope clause? If not, you all agreed to a weak contract and whose fault is that?) However, I'm just sick and tired of all of these parrots misusing the word and calling GJ pilots scabs. They're no more scabs than TSA pilots when TSA was "stealing" Eagle flying while Eagle pilots on the street.

They're not undercutting the industry anymore than any pilot that hires into any airline.

Klen has said that come fall they WILL furlough unless we get a large increase in flying or enough people take a LOA. Without SAPA, managment would have already passed the LOA without any benifits and no significant time frame. If this was the case NO ONE would take this crappy LOA and we would furlough even more folks.

It is people like you that make SAPA weak. Why in the world would managment take SAPA serious when we pilots don't show solidarity. Your attitude makes SAPA weak which inturn has a direct impact on your QOL.

You are misinformed. Klen did not put out that statement. SAPA is simply a weak tool that management uses occasionally to try to manipulate the pilot group and stir the pot. SAPA ends up talking about uniform issues, professionalism, cleaning airplanes, and the HIMS program instead of real QOL issues that the pilot group wants. It is laughable how when someone runs for a SAPA rep position they talk about how they will take a stand on serious issues and then after just a couple of meetings with management their entire agenda is circumvented by management and they become lackeys talking about petty issues that pilots would just as soon get an email about from the chief pilot group. You should really just take a step back and take an objective look at what SAPA is DOING instead of what they are saying. You will see that I am correct.

TSA did nothing similar to Eagle, Eagle was not allowed to do anymore flying for AA because of scope.
Granted GJ was formed to get around AAs scope, which is fine, but the pilots from TSA were not allowed to come over to GJ unless they came as new hires. RAH was established to get around AAs scope, but CHQ pilots were allowed to go to RAH with their senority, and pay.

I'm wondering if SAPA or the company has looked at the fine print on the health and dental benefits. It says that LOA employees are ineligible for benefits and must requalify when they return to work.

Yes, they have looked at it. Health insurers cannot pick and chose who to insure if you enroll as a new-hire...but if you decline insurance as a new-hire and then try to enroll later there is a natural and reasonable suspicion that you just came down with some expensive malady. For this reason the insurance companies are allowed to evaluate your health if you attempt late enrollment.

Unfortunately this may also get applied to those who lose benefits due to a voluntary leave of absence...effectively they voluntarily dropped the bennies.
