Shouldn't you be on the "Private Pilot" or "Pilot Wannabe" forum? You're a dispatcher right..??
I can't speak for XPOO (however, I DO know he isn't pondering a career as a pilot)...but...
When exactly did being a dispatcher make one a "pilot wannabe"? Sure, I've flirted with flying, but never with the idea of being a pilot for a living. Ya see, I'm not nearly bitter enough to be a pilot. Not to mention the following: I'm happy with what I do, I didn't pay out the arse to get a job that pays squat and keeps me away from home every night, I don't have to wear a monkey suit to work everyday, and I get a similar amount of days off as you do...not to mention a level of last-minute scheduling flexibility that can't be beat. I snag my share of flight attendant tail...so there goes that old standby comeback...and, if I want to visit the bars, hotels, and airports of the world, I will do it at my leisure.
Will I ever make as much as a senior captain?...nah. But, I'm more than OK with my station in life and have no regrets about what I chose for a career path, which is more than can be said for many pilots. Oh, and we may not fly the airplane, but we for damn sure know alot more about certain aspects of flying than a pretty large percentage of pilots...
Finally, this is the
Regionals forum. Not the
Regional Pilot forum. Believe me, we think the pilots posting on here are just as retarded about certain things as you think we are. Since this forum is about regional airlines...and since I and countless other dispatchers on here work for the regionals, we will continue to post here.
Now that we've got that outta the way, here's something that will
really blow your mind...
First of all, lets all be professionals. After all, we may all be working together for the same company IF this deal goes through.
Second, the CAL letter to XJT makes it very clear that they will only pull the 51 aircraft IF XJT doesn't provide the savings on the "magnitude" that SKW is offering. Its just a negotiating tactic on CAL's part. They either get the savings through a buyout from SKW or by an independent XJT. This is not to say that there couldn't be some flying given to SKW even if XJT remains independent AND keeps all 205 under a renewed CAL CPA.
Lastly, no one other than SKW and CAL management know what their negotiated deal is. Is it for all 205 aircraft or less than that? How long is the deal for? These are just a couple of questions that NONE of us know right now.
Nevets, my friend, this pretty much covers it all...very well put. None of us really know anything, nor will we 'til the deal is done or thrown out...but, damn, ain't it fun to speculate?
