First of all, lets all be professionals. After all, we may all be working together for the same company IF this deal goes through.

Second, the CAL letter to XJT makes it very clear that they will only pull the 51 aircraft IF XJT doesn't provide the savings on the "magnitude" that SKW is offering. Its just a negotiating tactic on CAL's part. They either get the savings through a buyout from SKW or by an independent XJT. This is not to say that there couldn't be some flying given to SKW even if XJT remains independent AND keeps all 205 under a renewed CAL CPA.

Lastly, no one other than SKW and CAL management know what their negotiated deal is. Is it for all 205 aircraft or less than that? How long is the deal for? These are just a couple of questions that NONE of us know right now.

Hey Hey...stop interjecting common sense to this thread.

Thank you Metro! I am SO sick of these Skywest guys foaming at the mouth for the demise of XJET, and nearly blowing their loads at the prospect of a contract with Continental (behind Xjet's back, and at the expense of Xjet of course). For a company that considers itself so "moral", the pilot group at Skywest sure seem to only care about themselves!

If I read another comment about Xjet possibly going bankrupt (with the Skywesters getting all excited), or "Uncle Jerry Said...", (we're going to be the best thing for Xjet, because they "need" us), or similar such nonsense, then I will be forced to conclude that there is not a single soul at Skywest who posts on this board who can think for themselves. First of all, Xjet is NOT going to go bankrupt.

Second, how can you guys not realize that what is bad for a company with an industry-leading contract (by bad, I mean Uncle Jerry strong-arming Xjet into giving up the best parts of their contract) is bad for the industry as a whole?

And for those of you at Skywest who think Jerry Atkin, et al, are such "good" guys because of their religious affiliation-- Let me clue you in on a little fact I have observed over the years... some of the biggest crooks I've ever met in business also have temple recommends. In their minds, "what's business is business... what's personal is personal." Meaning, they do one thing and profess another.

End of discussion.

Please. It's funny how Skywest is the bad guys for "blowing their loads at the prospect of a contract with Continental" but every time Express Jet get's more Delta flying out of SLC your pilots are all "blowing their loads" over the prospect of more flying with Delta at Skywest expense. What a bunch of hypocrites. Pathetic.

SkyWest could probably pick up some cheap aircraft on the open market once XJT and MESA have their liquidation sales.

Shouldn't you be on the "Private Pilot" or "Pilot Wannabe" forum? You're a dispatcher right..??

Do you have any questions about actually flying airplanes. Perhaps I could help you out with the whole pitch/power thingy.

Sent via PM with my response back...

"
Your canadian crap jets may be painted in CAL colors but not if they have more than 70 seats. That's called scope protection.
."

I'm not sure if you understand CAL's scope. No commuter airline will fly any jet for us with over 50 seats per POS '02. Only turboprops may be over 50 seats and hopefully we can lock that door come contract 2010.

"SkyWest, Inc. is reviewing their options and plans to announce a decision to alter or dismiss their proposal within the next couple of weeks; I'll keep you updated on this and other news.

...I also met with the FAA last week, and discussed the possibility of adding an authorization to operate the ERJ-145, a 50-seat jet manufactured by Embraer. I'll keep you updated on any progress and what it may mean for our operation."

I can't speak for XPOO (however, I DO know he isn't pondering a career as a pilot)...but...

When exactly did being a dispatcher make one a "pilot wannabe"? Sure, I've flirted with flying, but never with the idea of being a pilot for a living. Ya see, I'm not nearly bitter enough to be a pilot. Not to mention the following: I'm happy with what I do, I didn't pay out the arse to get a job that pays squat and keeps me away from home every night, I don't have to wear a monkey suit to work everyday, and I get a similar amount of days off as you do...not to mention a level of last-minute scheduling flexibility that can't be beat. I snag my share of flight attendant tail...so there goes that old standby comeback...and, if I want to visit the bars, hotels, and airports of the world, I will do it at my leisure.

Will I ever make as much as a senior captain?...nah. But, I'm more than OK with my station in life and have no regrets about what I chose for a career path, which is more than can be said for many pilots. Oh, and we may not fly the airplane, but we for damn sure know alot more about certain aspects of flying than a pretty large percentage of pilots...

Finally, this is the Regionals forum. Not the Regional Pilot forum. Believe me, we think the pilots posting on here are just as retarded about certain things as you think we are. Since this forum is about regional airlines...and since I and countless other dispatchers on here work for the regionals, we will continue to post here.

Now that we've got that outta the way, here's something that will really blow your mind...

Nevets, my friend, this pretty much covers it all...very well put. None of us really know anything, nor will we 'til the deal is done or thrown out...but, damn, ain't it fun to speculate?

I don't think so. SKYW does everything it can to keep costs low and pass the saving to the mainline partner. The CRJ 900 is 8 to 10 % cheaper to operate than the E Jets. In this fuel environment, and the airlines inability to charge more for tickets, the CRJ is a winner. Oil back to $50 or so....then the E Jet is better.

great facts:rolleyes:

but you are wrong. Overall, 170/190s are better than the crj pos. Why do you think Air Canada chose E170-190s over crj?

have a nice day:beer:

This just came out like 5 seconds ago on SWOL and you are already blabing it on FI.com. I wouldn't have posted that if I were you. Why would you post internal company info on here? I know you love SkyWest, but have some common sense man.

How's this any different than wanting Mesa to disappear. No hard feeling for express jet but come on that branded flying is a lost cause.
