Hey SkyWest brothers, I just heard that you folks are flying the naps out of ATL is there any truth to that? If so on what airplane?

We used to have them to SAT, BNA, GSP, STL and TLH. Next month there is one occurance to SAT, 3 to IAH and CHS for the last 3 weeks of the month. All on the CRJ-900. There are a lot less next month than we have had over the past 6 months
It's possible that crews from other bases are flying some others, but I doubt it.
 
Why is Skywest TDYing 200 crews to ATL, when we have 80 out on furlough? Isn't this the same as scabbing? Someone said they are sending in 30 crews per week, can anyone confirm?
 
pretty sure this ended this past weekend. They scheduled skywest crews to cover the MX problem for longer than they needed. They didn't pull the crews off when the problem was resolved until they schedule they put in place ended.

FYI in order for anything to be considered scabbing it must involve struck work... Is ASA striking?
 
Pretty sure the 200 crews where in ATL to help out you guys since something like 60 airplanes were grounded in one day.

We all want our furloughed brothers and sisters back in the cockpit, but you've got to stop throwing the scab word around. It shows that you are either ignorant to what the definition of scab is, or you're an emotional little child.

We should be thankful that Skywest came down to Atlanta and helped us out. I believe if we didn't get help, than SKYW Inc. would have possibly broke even, or lost money in the first quarter. Either way, someone's head is going to roll in our maintenance department for the oversight.

So using your logic (or illogic)...when ASA was owned by Delta and they had pilots on furlough...You must have been a scab...Were you a scab?
 
I never once saw the word scab. Did I miss something here. According to some of the mec people from the union Asa lost money last quarter and no bonus checks for us. I hope that is not true. We as a pilot group work hard Asa and Skywest

What a moron, they were helping us out and by at least getting money to SKYW Inc bank account. If we would have just cancelled those flights we would have lost all that money. We lost it (ASA) but SKYW Inc still got it. We are a fee for departure airline but I would expect you to understand that or anything else in the airline world since you obviously don't know what a scab is. Sorry SKYW brothers and thanks for helping us and our pax out.

Omg.. For those that are accusing of scabbing.. You've got to be kidding right?
First a Scab is someone the flies struck work. Asa was not on strike. 2nd, they were helping us out while a major mistake was found and we took care of it ourselves. The faa was not involved and it was all voluntary.
They were not scabbing nor are they scabs.. oh yes, I am an Asa captain.
 
The "s word" would have never been mentioned if SKW was a union airline. In the mind of an ignorant person, non-union = scab. Thankfully, almost everybody knows better.
 
To my SkyWest brothers thanks for the info. I was just wondering if they transferring the naps to SkyWest. But it doesn't appear that mgmt is doing that.

Maybe not scabs, but I still don't like em'. Bash all you want, I just know that while we have been shrinking, skywest has grown by leaps and bounds with aircraft that should have been ours. I sat reserve for close to two years, and now we have 80 guys on the street, yet skwest is overstaffed and sending guys to Atl to cover our flying. That debacle cost us about three days of irregularity, but threeweeks later I'm still seeing skywest 200's in Atl. Do you all really think they are just helping us out for a maint. fck up? We are short handed now and you can't trade trips due to low coverage every friggin' day. I think they are trying to forestall a fourlough at skywest and keep our guys out on the street long enough to make it cost effective. But hey, what do I know, you all are the butt buddies with the skywest folk so you tell me. And yes I am a captain here.

What part of "aircraft shortage below the number needed to operate a full and efficient operation due to several, unfortunate damaging incidents" do you not understand? Sorry if that comes off as a bit snarky, compadre, but I really hate having to explain really simple logic to pilots more than once. Twice is tolerable in the event that I perhaps wasn't clear the first time around. Three or more times and one could begin to question the listener's/reader's cognitive reasoning abilities...:D

From the best I can tell, this sentiment is in the minority at ASA. The majority of us (ASA pilots) appreciate SKYW helping ASA out of a self inflicted jam.


Why don't we just skip all this bickering all together? One list, anyone? Orange whip? Orange whip? Who wants an Orange whip (one list)?
 
How many ASA -200's are out of service right now?
1. Hangar accident
2. Hangar accident
3. The fire in FL
4. SAV??

It's at least 3, that's why there are a few SkyWest 200's covering for you guys in ATL. Luckily skywest was able to cover this, otherwise it would be freedom, pinnacle, etc and ASA would be losing tons of money for poor completion.

When SkyWest needs help rest assured ASA will be covering for us.
 
I can't wait until things pick up again so we can all stop bickering amongst ourselves and join hands and complain about not being able to get time off and how the wet behind the ears, low time pilots, they are hiring are a safety issue.
