alpo at one point in it's origins had pilots best interests at heart and were willing to fight for it's members. At this point however, alpo is merely a powerless self serving bloated bureaucracy. Have no illusions, they will sell your pilot group down the river in an instant without a second thought. Look at their track record over the last 15 years. The current state of alpo much like the aviation industry sickening.

Is it ALPA National doing this or your own MEC's? Place blame in the proper direction...this is a pilot-driven union whether anyone wants to believe it or not. Those of you advocating a change to independent representation fail to realize that it will still be the same cast of characters doing the union work...just less resources available.

More fustration based on misinformed expectations...

Cite when ALPA had its pilots best interest at heart?

  • Maybe it was Dave Behnke was losing touch with ALPA and the leadership was ready to oust him. Dave was so bitter the very organization he created was ready to toss him out...
  • Or maybe it was when The Amercian Airlines Pilots left ALPA and formed the APA. (yes, the American pilots are not ALPA, yes they once were..... Yes they buy services from ALPA....)
  • Maybe it was the crew compliment issue?
  • How about this one.... Captains had one vote and FO's had.....NO vote. Then..FO's got a 1/2 vote.. Does it sound like ALPA had FO's best interest at heart?
Guys are like you are nothing but empty canyons that echo the very best of crewroom and cockpit ignorance.....

ALPA has issues, they need to be solved, but we need real players to step up to the plate... not mindless sheep that depend on the flock....

Look in the Mirror....

:cool:Rez...nicely said! Looking back on this thread, there are only about 2 or 3 guys not satisfied with ALPA. I am very happy to hear that the Skywest guys are looking into ALPA with heavy interest! We need them (ALPA) and yes, they might not be perfect, but they handle the business when the time is right! Good luck Skywest guys/gals....Vote IN ALPA!!

Are you sure?

If it is completely pilot driven, then what happened to Emery and CC Air. Both MEC's shot down by DW. ALPA has an agenda, you can only hope that you are on the correct side of that agenda.

I am not very well versed on the Emery situation but we can discuss the CC Air situation if you would like. That is definitely an anomoly and while ALPA is a pilot-driven organization, yes, every CBA must have the President's signature. If the President wishes not to sign a particular CBA (there are very few instances of this as typically National does not like to intervene in MEC business), then he/she doesn't have to sign the CBA. That said, the CC Air case was a very complex issue with lots of tentacles touching different sub-issues. DW had his reasons for his course of action on that one and if you'd like to provide us with an argument as to why he should have signed it, I'm all ears...I haven't heard too many arguments in favor of that CBA frankly.
