Hey Einstein....first of all, I am not a "guy". My fiancee's take home (with per diem and higher than guarantee credit which I include in total pay) was around $900 every two weeks. My take home from UPS was $580 every two weeks. So please tell me, isn't $580 less than $900? In my book of math, it is. If you want me to post my W2 info, I will. I don't see what the big deal is with telling someone how much you make or asking someone for that matter. Who gives a $hit?

Ohhh it all makes sense now moron. Lets compare our pay loading trucks at UPS to flying planes at SkyWest. Why didn't I see that. Lets compare flying planes to loading boxes onto a truck.

Ok, oh great one....since I am obviously too stupid to compare THE SAME F***ING THING:

Skywest PILOT first year 2 week check net: $900

UPS PILOT first year 2 week check net: $580

Please explain it to me.

Hey gang. Just curious if anyone would like to share their first year w-2 numbers from Skywest.

Also, what kind of premiums, if any, do they have for extra flying etc.

If you don't feel comfortable posting a solid number, on average, how many hours doyou log a month (jet or turbo)

Cheers

True professionals don't talk about how much they make.

So you arrived at this conclusion based on one pay check?
First year UPS FO $33 an hour, 81 hour gaurntee.
First year Skywest FO $19 an hour, 75 hour gaurntee.
The math just dosent add up. I think that a first year UPS FO will make much more than a SKW FO.

No, I arrived at this conclusion based on paychecks our entire first year. It was consistent with what I said before for an entire year.
I said that he made over guarantee plus per diem. I sat on reserve, hardly ever flew, therefore got only guarantee and no per diem. IMO, per diem and time over guarantee factor into total pay.

Time over counts towards actual pay, but in no way does per-diem.

You can't compare take home pay Mega. Who knows what deductions either of you are taking or why. If anything you should be comparing gross monthly pay.

FJ

My regional job pays more than YOUR regional job so NAAANAAANAAAAH.....

Na uh, My regional has better QOL, and the per-diem, oh and the over-ride pay is way better than FED-ED and UPS combined!

I don't.....because my take home pay is what I get to keep. All looking at gross does is pi$$ me off about paying too much taxes. I count per diem as take home too because I don't spend it on the road.

i think you all are dumb. who really cares how much you make. if you anit liking your situation then move on to the next place. and i'll bet you'll on here bitching again. or what ever u guys do

Wow. Hit a sore spot here eh?

I was trying evaluate how SKYW workrules affect their monthly pay. They work , in general, less duty time, and less calendar days than us over at Mesa, but get loads more credit. I was at a social even on Wed, and I met two SKYW guys, they said that they easily block over 100 credit hours per month. This just goes to show that the buck or two they make less first year than me doesn't mean anything because the way they are paid is fair.

And yes, professionals will talk about money, if someone asks. If you don't know what other people are making, how will you know if you are being paid fairly? How will you know what mistakes to avoid, what decisions are good?

And as for liking my job and not thinking about the money? Tell that to my landlord, moh-ron.

Thanks for the real answers.

I don't feel like reading all the pages but have you SKYW fellows got your W-2's yet, if so when did you have them? Just comparing us to you.

1. And yes, professionals will talk about money, if someone asks.

2. If you don't know what other people are making, how will you know if you are being paid fairly?

3. How will you know what mistakes to avoid, what decisions are good?

1. If you are the person asking then people will think you are boorish. There is a difference between asking someone how many hours they are paid and asking how much, $, they make.

2. See one and figure it out on one of the web sites.

3. Don't go to a party and start asking pleople how much they make is a good start.

I'm tired of this argument..."talking about money is..." unprofessional, wrong, and my personal favorite, "rude". Give me a flippin' break, people. We are adults...

I will make this one caveat: It may be in poor taste to flash the money all over a public forum...HOWEVER...if someone is flat out wrong about a certain annual pay(for instance at SkyWest...where I work)...I'm going to correct them. If it takes my W2 figure...so be it. If I am in poor taste...so be it. I will correct people if they are trying to come off all bad-"a" and know it all.

I'll tell you this. I made far more from New Jersey unemployment benefits than I did first year pay at Skywest. F'd up man!

I'm just glad my first year pay only lasted 7 months.

Unprofessional speaking of pay? How is this Mesa guy being unprofessional comparing pay? I recently interviewed with a financial firm, I asked how much the pay was. Is that unprofessional...I dont think so, and I got the job. We are professionals and we're also professionals with bills, if you have a problem "bragging" about how much you make when someone is trying to be accurately informed then dont offer to help them. Professionals dont talk about pay...please. Professionals shouldnt brag about pay especially when it is nothing to brag about, offering information to help someone that may possibly effect a decision or a contract negotiation is different.

gotta spool down after that rant....beer needed

Better than I could have said it...beer would be good:)

We were discussing contracts. Pay is a large portion of that contract. The dollar amount never even came up. Sorry for trying to be informed. I hope your monical didn't fall into your brandy snifter.

The post of 13K is someone who didn't work much or try to work his schedule. I made 20K my first year (6 yrs ago) plus per diem on top of that. I never killed myself working extra just the occasional trip. Second year on the RJ I made $50K so it gets better. I was pretty good at trading trips around and manipulating my schedule for better pay. Hope the info helps.

So what---it is tacky and unprofessional to post on a forum what your W-2 says. Besides.... if you wanted to just make up some b.s. and throw it out there you can (i.e. I grossed $32k 1st year at Skywest---I don't even work at SkyW). Then you just create problems. That "my fiancee took home more than a UPS pilot on 1st year pay" is a good example. I don't know of many UPS pilots posting there W-2 information on flightinfo. In fact.... I just did a search and came up with nothing... so that guy is comparing his fiancee's pay without knowing the "soft time"

What's the point other than to cause a bunch of frustration and some arguments about Skywest sucks, Mesa sucks, Gojet Sucks, Expressjet Sucks, Air Wisconsin Sucks, Republic Sucks, Colgan Sucks, Big Sky Sucks, Freedom sucks, etc.

So---go to another thread! Some of us have to pay our own bills and don't have a silver spoon in our mouth. Everyone knows the pay anywhere is low, but having some knowledge of what you can expect to make at least helps you plan your finances. Tacky??? Who's making the etiquette rules? It's called CRM in the cockpit. Do you make blind leaps of faith? Give me good information, I can make good decisions based on the information.

Don't forget, in Utah, there is about a 7% state tax on direct earnings! That's something you need to know also!
