Faulty premise. I don't believe Skybus to be "insignificant" at all. I consider them to be a significant threat to the future of this profession. If they manage to turn a profit and stay in business for a few years, then all of us will suffer during the next downturn. Are you ready for DAL 767 Captains to be making $100/hr? Don't be so dramatic. Cabotage is a way bigger threat. Air Nepalese pilots making 14 bucks an hour are a far bigger threat than SkyBus. SkyBus is no better or worse than any other LCC. Get off your high horse. You act like AirTran is leading the way on payscales and work rules. Why can't you just enjoy your company and your job without turning it into a referendum on the reshaping of the industry?

i could say things like survival of the fittest, or other cliches, but for you it is: this profession is a mature industry . in mature industries, wages plummet. all other fixed costs stay the same . it is called competition. i sugggest you take a course at your local community college in marketing or finance.

Actually, I just had to go fly for a few a couple of days. Can't spend all of my time on here, you know.

Climbhappy and Pogue Mahone have just proven to be as ignorant and dense as FMS-Speed. They want to bury their heads in the sand and pretend that what happens at Skybus doesn't affect the rest of the industry. That's a nice fantasy world, but reality doesn't quite work like that. In reality, Skybus is going to drag down this profession and all of us will suffer.

Never said that I'm more concerned with Skybus than cabotage. Both are very important issues that pilots need to concern themselves with. Both will destroy what's left of this profession.
