Ever been to KSEZ? It may be the coolest airport in the US. Well, the locals are restless. A 'handful' of home owners are petitioning the city to shut it down.

The local newspaper is running a story on the issue. They also have a poll on their main page. If you're interested in this sort of thing please go to the site and vote for option number 4.

RedRockNews Poll

The polll is on the left side of the page.

it is the coolest airport in the U.S, the scenery going in there is freaking awesome.

Here's to hoping Sedona remains open for 100 years

and here's to hoping they close Santa Monica tomorrow (just kidding, but I hate that airport)

She is not too bad looking, I would not kick her out of bed.

However, someone like who, who is anti-aviation, an artist, and living in Sedona, I would wager there is probably a better than 50/50 chance she believes in chemtrails.

From her site:
With air traffic projected to triple in the next decade
There's your future pilot shortage right there. Upgrades for everyone.

That is one bat sh!t crazy woman! "we're DYING out here! My liver hurts!, I can't breath and Roberts heart rate is up!"

My heart rate would be up too if I had to deal with that lady at 8:30 in the morning...

shut it down

just another dangerous airport where there is a better than normal chance that someone is gonna get hurt

So what's the "normal" chance someone will get hurt?? If we use this criteria, we'll be shutting down LOTS of airports.

Just in there a few days ago. Beautiful airport. Hope I cranked that lady's BP up a bit.

I am not totally sure she is a chemmie, she just thinks she is being poisoned by airplane pollution, not as part of some nefarious conspiracy like chemtrails, although I would not be surprised though if she believes in it, but I did not see chemtrails woo on her blog.
But its obvious their medical symptoms are psychosomatic, they are causing their own problems from their fear of aircraft.

However Sedona is one of those places where chemtrail belief is common, along with Taos, Santa Fe, and southern CO too. I once debated a chemmie in a Taos UPS store, and he did not understand that Aluminum compounds are part of the ground, so part of dust. He thought any detection of Aluminum in the air is chemtrails. This woman thinks any amount of lead means it is coming from airplanes, however the same EPA site she links to, shows a plummeting amount of lead in the air.

I'm just curious, since the airport was there before the neighborhoods were... did she not notice it when she was shopping for her house?

Like these idiots who buys a home 10 blocks off the departure end of 13R at JFK then flings a fit wanting city council to close the runway...

Hahahaha her blog is hilarious! Apparently the jet fumes killed off Amanda and Jordan last month, what a shame. I need to talk the boss into vacationing in Sedona so I can contribute more to her rising blood pressure :D

Sedona is one of those experiences that will remain in my mind forever. Went there ages ago on my first instrument training x-country. Shot the NDB approach, looked up, saw the airport, and then the massive red rock walls. Absolutely awesome!

I think airports attract houses. Back in the '70s, we flew an airway over the Greater Southwest VOR and looked down at bulldozers constructing runways for a new airport --- DFW. Not so much as a cow for miles around, but that soon changed. Even the remote DIA airport has started to get noise complaints.

Yup, if they built a full service airport on the moon, the day after it opened there would be 6 subdivisions and 14 apartment complexes within a mile of the place.

Followed by everyone howling mad over the noise.

I bet she is a big proponent of GA user fees. Lol. :puke:

SEZ is a real "cool" airport and all, but take away the one way in/one way out wx conditions, and operations there can get real dicey. Considering the limited traffic, the accident/incident rate is no doubt higher than most airports in the USA. Cottonwood is less than 20 miles away and is far more suitable.

It wouldn't break my heart to see certain operations, like jet traffic, be restricted. Even pilots intimately familiar with the airport have had challenges there. Unfamiliar pilots face even more. Keep in mind, I fall into "old", not "bold" category at this point. Closing it is a bit extreme though.

Was just in there yesterday and there was a QS Citation X on the ramp. Bet you could hear the pilots' brass balls clanging as they walked!

5100ft rwy at 480MSL?! It'd be fun in the right plane. How far off the handle do you think she would fly if a old 3 hole Falcon came roaring down the valley? Ha. I bet the old mans pulse went up because of her bitching about airplanes. Grandpa needs to check his woman. J/K, as it was said before, who was there first? The town wouldnt be as well known or popular if it werent for the airport, price of progress.
