If you've been looking at the Majors board at all it is looking like scope was relaxed for DCI. The # is said to be up to 82 in 2005 and then more for every 10k mainline hours added.
For those of us at ASA its interesting because we are slated to get 25 50s next year. The current cap is 57. New cap is 82... 82-57=25. Anyone know if these are going to be changed to 70s?

Wasn't ASA going to get 25 CRJ 50s? I bet that will be changed to CR7s....

I have to get on my "union" soapbox for just a second. I am not naive enough too think that the damage done can not be reversed, but can we keep our d1cks in our pants for a day or so and at least let this concession go out to a vote. Jesus we are the biggest bunch of buddyfukers. I was on a hotel van with dci bretheren and some mailline folks. I almost jumped out of the window at highway speeds due to some of the monumentally insulting comments made by my coworkers towards the concession package. Anyone that comments about "35% from 200/hr is still a lot blahblah" is a total a-hole in my book. Anyone that salivates about table scrap RJ's the minute after another pilot group gets hammered with concessions is the kind of guy I want to take outside and knock some sense into(I will buy you a beer after I kick your @ss).

Bottom line, we have all been played, and played very well. I feel that we are all responsible for not being proactive enough or having the vision to work together when this whole rj monster reared its ugly head. Too bad so sad. I just have a hard time reading the exact personality traits that management exploits time after time after time on this board.

Oooooohhhhh jets are cool! Were gettin more jets! Look how cool my 70 seater looks! The second reply to the recent USAirways' rates thread was "not too bad". WTF! not....too.....bad....? W T F!

Breath, exhale, repeat. Is it too early to have a guiness?

Not to jump in while mainline takes it in the rear. However, with PSA losing their financing on their 700s, perhaps the typical 18 month lead time needed to change options (Bombardier reported lag time) can be worked around. Someone else posed that PSA cannot keep 8 700s and make it worthwhile. I'm guessing that, IF, ASA does change some of the orders, there are some 700's that could be available. I guess this is all just hypothetical, the TA's got to be passed first.

Why would anyone want a 700 when you can get a 170 for a lower price, I think mother Delta will look at this option.

What would you rather fly on????

Habib,

Take a look at the ramp in ATL(or any city for that matter) and you will probably find your answer. The 700 can fit into RJ gates while the E170 takes up a lot more ramp space. I agree that the E170 is probably a better a/c, but you can't fit 3 to a gate like the 700's. By the way, how do you know that the E170 is cheaper than the 700? Most of that is determined by the deal that each airline swings.

Cost (Preis)
Target sales price fo the ERJ-170 is 21 million US-Dollars, while the ERJ-190 will have a price tag of 24 million US-Dollars.
Development cost for the ERJ-170, ERJ-190 and ERJ-190-200 was put at 850 million US-Dollars at the time of the launch announcement in June 1999.

Costs (Kosten)
The price of the CRJ Series 700 is around 28 million US-Dollars.
Development cost put at 645 million Canadian Dollars, of which Bombardier will provide 440 million CanDollars.

Very good point about the ramp space, but when you start talking about 7 Mil/aircraft. $$ Talks, CRJ walks.

The ALPA leadership, Duane Woerth in specific and the Delta MEC in general drew the line that separated ALPA. It was not DCI Pilots. The DCI guys asked for a merger for crying out loud.

Don't get mad at the intended victims when they chuckle as the intended dinner gets away from the predator.

If the Delta MEC and ALPA were willing to focus on restoring the profession, instead of protecting the chosen few, something could be worked out.

Habib,

You may be correct on the E170 being cheaper(I don't know), but I don't think you can rely on generic prices on the internet to compare the two. DCI has purchased hundreds of CRJs. I've got a pretty good feeling they're getting them for a bit less than the advertised price. None of us know the real number, I guess we'll just wait and see what big D does.

None of the RJ's actually do what the company advertises, performance-wise. Right now the actual CR7 numbers are being compared to the advertised E170 numbers. I'd speculate that when it all boils down, they'll be very comparable.

Who know's, maybe they'll find a nice low cost pilot group to fly those E170's out west.

Here's a question: If DCI put out a RFP for E170s, would CHQ pilots lower the rates to Mesa levels "To get the growth"?

Gotta get that 1000 PIC yanno...........

Oh the hits just keep on comin'

I would bet NO. Even CHQ pilots realize the 5% premium over the 50 seat rate for the 170 is too low.
