"Quit your whining and grow up. Just remember, no matter how much you whine and cry over there, your still my Biatch...."

Is that so, Mike? We can talk about it next time i'm in Tulsa.

That is if you're not too busy telling people that you're furloughed from TWA.

Apparently Rabble, your post just goes to show everyone just how childess you really are. Like it's a big secret that I live in Tulsa. Nice research. However, if making false accusations makes you feel better about yourself and deal with your emotions, be my guess. Just another reason why you belong where you are. It wasen't personal, but apparently you have a hard time dealing with that and wish to make it that way.

Any closer to your upgrade at Comair? Didn't think so

Grow up

I was talking to a engineer at Bombardier in YUL last week and was talking about the cost anlysis on the GE engines. Pretty interesting stuff.

For instance, anyone know why the CRJ-700 is so sloped on the ground?

That's what I thought, and that is one of the issues. the main reason was cost's. It would have cost Bombardier 25 million to certify a new main cabin door. Instead they used the 200 door which is already certified with the only change being the height of the roller ball on the bottom. However, to get it to fit, they had to redesign the nose gear.

The 200 and 700 share the same door and can be swapped between aircraft types. Didn't ask him if the 900 is the same though.

I single engine taxi ALMOST all the time to help keep the speed down without riding the brakes (also gets me out of others' way quicker after pushback)...POH says to allow speed to build and then slow down with the brakes to keep from riding and heating them up (too much speeding up and slowing down....). Pisses off some FO's but, oh well!...Sometimes I'll open a TR (depends on where I am and WHO I'm with) $8 a shot? Doubt it, even so, it takes a whole lot of TR cycles to equal the cost of one brake assembly....remember, you now have real, live folks in the back. Go easy on them..

All that being said: you guys (AA) taxi waaaayyyyyy too slow (among other slightly annoying things). Please try to remember you are NOT the only ones out there. Try to be a little considerate of the rest of us.

BTW, I'm 40 (not 20 something), didn't go to an "academy" and I wear my hat (not to hide the combover, I actually still have hair).

Can't we all just get along?!?;)

And people knock the turboprops! Go Beta!

Beta... I love it when tower asks for a report on braking action....

Taxi with reverse

SkyWest SOP requires single-engine taxi wherever possible. However, it specifically allows us to taxi with ONE reverser deployed when taxiing on two engines. It may be deployed only ONCE during taxi (i.e. if you stow it, you may NOT use it again).

The CRJ puts out alot of thrust at idle and the brakes heat up fast, so the technique at ASA is to build speed then slow way down and do that over and over. They've placed more emphasis on single-engine taxi here, which I and some others do, but most don't. But mostly it's because we get paid for under-block. That means if your monthly line is blocked less than Guarantee and you fly a segment in less than scheduled block time, you get the difference on top of guarantee. You can get 5 or more hours extra pay per month.

Ever see a 21 year-old kid drive a car?

No difference. You take a bunch of twenty-something, wonderstick, captains, with their American Idol haircuts, running around the concourses carrying their hats, never flown anything bigger than a seminole before they graduated to the RJ (literally) -- and they taxi like they're driving their girlfriend's convertible.

They have little regard for smoothness in the air or on the ground.

I realize i'm stereotyping here but I just flew with one of these clowns and I'm fed up.

a little bitter there gramps. I am 40 been in the industry since 1989 and I am not even close to as bitter as you are old man. Lighten up and take your Lawerence Welk haircut to the old folks home. the reason your soooo smooth in the air is probably your arthritis won't allow you to do anything sharply. I bet you don't do 12 hour duty days either ( no time for your nap). So change your depends and have a glass of geritol.

If they have so much thrust at idle, why do so many Pinnacle guys blow us out in the alley in MSP? I'm not trying to start a war, just stating a fact. I saw a Pinnacle guy spin another CRJ in the gate in MSP last December. He laid in so much power that the jet wash spun a plane in the gate so that the nose was 45-degrees to the right. That must have been a hell of lot of thrust.

Again, not flaming... it just seems that you guys taxi with a ton of thrust when we are behind you. Maybe our guys do that in the Avro when they are new, too. I honestly don't know.

Any Flagshippers have an honest answer? Thanks.

Honest answer: Most of our Captains use too much break-away thrust to get moving. No excuses, they just use too much. The DTW line standards manager has been pushing guys not to use more than the recommended thrust settings. Hopefully more of the Captains will start to ease up on the taxi thrust, but I doubt many will.

I taxi fast in the ERJ for a number of reasons:

1. 23 min turn times that require you to be early to get out on time the next flight. Not to mention that most stations don't use jetways and wheelchair pax really slow down turns.

2. Brakes heat up as previously mentioned and TR not authorized below 60 knots.

3. Idle thrust pushes me so fast that the speedbrakes will deploy (25 kts)

4. I'm hungry, gotta crap, or I'm on the go home leg to catch my connection home.

Don't you guys have neutral?

If you are really at Comair, I am ashamed. You are the biggest piece or work. I truly hope I don't fly with you as a FO or a Captain. You know that the CRJ takes 2 min before you can shut down the left engine, and you also know that you need to warm up the engine before takeoff. You all so know we can NOT use reverse on taxi, even though a lot of us do. You are truly a waste of my time. Lets just hope we don't fly together.

Taxi out and the guy was hummin. speedbrakes popped 4 times on the taxi out. We crossed 31 and almost went airborne.

I'm like this guy is a friggin clown. I'm figuring 23 year old kid, spiked hair and the backpack lovin his first jet job.

Nope death in the left seat. Guy looked like he was on his last breath. 50+ and I was surprised. I mean jesus not what i was expecting.

Oh and before you flame i'm under 27 and have the seacrest hair. :)

I don't care how fast you guys taxi as long as you don't get in the way of a salaried man that has 30 drinking days a month built into his schedule.
