I realize $15 an hour is low pay. However, no one is forcing these guys/gals to take these jobs.

Yeah, you're right. They could go out and get a job at Wal-Mart for $5.35/hr instead with no benefits. Great idea. In case you haven't noticed, there aren't too many decent jobs left in America that don't require a 4-year degree, and many people don't have the means to get said degree. High School graduates are left with very few opportunities to make a decent living. A few decades ago, a high school graduate could work in the manufacturing industry in a union job and make it to the middle class with a good quality of life. Not true nowadays.

I'm certainly not suggesting that this has anything to do with excusing abortions. Abortion is murder. Period. There's simply no excuse unless the life of the mother is at stake. But let's not pretend that many of these FAs can just go out and get a better job and make it out of poverty without any problems.

I see your point and agree with you that making decent money without college is becoming increasingly harder to do. But my point is with a little effort, most people have the opportunity to get a college degree if they really want it. There are scholerships, grants, student loans, parental assistance, and military service that provide a lot of options to high school students.

But some people don't want to pursue education beyond high school and that's their decision. However, they also have to realize and accept the fact that their career options are limited due to this, as is their pay. And my ultimate point in all this rambling is, if you can't afford a kid, take the necessary precautions to make sure it doesn't happen.

When did flightinfo.com become a sounding board for conservative and christian views?? This is the exact problem with Bedford's memo - it opens a door he ought not. Why don't we talk about Available Seat Miles and Load Factors.. and keep the baby-killing, welfare-stealing rants to a minimum.

I have to disagree with you on this one. I don't remember seeing in the memo that it said agree with my viewpoint or you're fired, or anything to that effect. He only asked that people consider his point of view. Bedford is just taking a stand on something that he feels strongly about. I admire him for doing this in the face of a rabid politically correct social culture.

I agree with Bedford on abortion, but I still have to agree with Boiler that it isn't appropriate to use a company venue to spread his viewpoint. Company email, newsletters, conference calls, etc... should be restricted to company business. His personal views on abortion are inappropriate for distribution within the company.

As an employee I can Choose to read it or not. I read it and sort of agree with him but he just went about it the wrong way. If you know BB and how he writes things just DON'T READ IT. It's really that simple.
