9 months with no job tells me u came from FLEX or CS. I can not speak for CS but at FLEX we have a good group of guys that I am pretty sure they will help u with this decision hence you never had any troubles with the company.

Good Luck

My God, take the political BS to the non-aviation forum. You are sure to get accurate, expert answers to all your questions there.

Agreed. If people who hate America would just refrain from calling the highest ELECTED office in the world petty names I'd be happy to ignore it.

Dixie Chicks get destroyed for saying they're "not proud to be Americans" but the other side gets to use deragotory names and paint Joker faces on OUR presidents image. Why don't you just call him a Ni@ger and get your true feelings out? This isn't about policy cause Democrates have had the same goals for decades.

As long as I'm at it...

"cram 'his' unwanted policies down our throats?" Sorry, I want universal health care. Hate to point this out to ya, but the only one on this board with health insurance right now is NetJetWife and NetJetOwner.

You and I do NOT have any true health insurance cause if any of us get sick we lose our medical and shortly thereafter our job and there goss the health insurance unless you can afford COBRA with no job. Answer this...NetJets has to have the best insurance package of the lot of us right? How long does Netjets keep you employed with free health insurance when you have lost your medical?

And they are the best of us...

See how none of us really have health insurance? So bring on universal health care! I want it, my guy won the election and I'm tired of unpatriotic rightwingers being disrespectful of the President of the United States of America!

I think it's in the part where Congree makes the laws of the land, the Executive branch signs them into law and, get this, there's a third branch to make sure it's all legal.

By your argument nothing in the COTUS says we can check for lead in toys imported from China!

Not quite. As President James Madison explains.
"The powers delegated to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the state governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, [such] as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce..The powers reserved to the several states will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people."

James Madison, "the father of the Constitution" FEDERALIST #45

So you see ... yes we can check for lead in Chinese toys.... But the United States may not run health care. Pretty much all Liberalism violates the COTUS.

Isn't Medicare trying to buy drugs from abroad? There's your "forign commerce".

Americans voted for it. We're gonna get it. Stop painting Joker faces on the President. Clinton tried and failed at the same thing. Nobody painted Joker faces on him.

I gotta agree with Hung Start on this one - honor is worth something. Besides, any HR department that requires the resignation will be smart enough to confirm the name of the pilot, the address of the company, and mail it themselves.

I also agree that a conversation with the CP or ACP is in order prior to sending the letter. A non-union frac can "accept" your letter of resignation and then ignore it come recall time - if they choose to. I would be surprised if they chose NOT to, IF you communicate with them in advance.

Best of luck.

+1. Hung is right. Maintain thine honor, above all else. HOWEVER, cover your a$$. With some forethought, you can do both. Those of us with families simply have to do our due diligence, talk to the furloughing company, and see what accomadations they will make. The simple truth is that some companies will not treat us honorably. We have to protect ourselves. This does not mean that we have to act dishonorably, it simply means that we have to take a proactive stance when it comes to protecting our seniority. I admit, I have not had to do this. But I know some who were able to walk the fine line, being honest as well as protecting themselves. Goodluck.

Who's to say the CP or ACP that you talk to will be the one handling the issue if/when recall time comes?

I think if you sign your name to a letter resigning your seniority, you'd better be ready to do just that in case these games everyone is talking about playing don't work.

A couple of times since I've been furloughed I've had job opportunities arise (one crappy regional, one crappy charter outfit) but they wanted me to resign my seniority. Not going to happen. Therefore, I'll be starting my new career as a microwave specialist at burger king in about 5 months when my unemployment and savings run out. Only time will tell if my plan was a good one and I'm willing to accept the damage to my career progression if I never get recalled.
