I hope this is your version of sarcasm because if you are enjoying eating the food on the airplane that much on an international trip of any kind it is a waste for you. Anybody with any taste at all is waiting till the destination .

Uhhhhhhhh, does it beat domestic flying food? Sure it does, you only get meals domestically if the flight is blocked over 5 1/2 hours, right? (Transcons). Were you just trying to be funny? Didn't work. I enjoy the food at destination more (read my original post, stating everyone had favorite restaurants). But, there are differences between Dom and INTL flying, and complete meals is an example. Thanks for your comment Mr. Iron Chef!

Sounds like you just had a bad experience at a disgruntled airline. Base changes or aircraft changes can solve that. If you live in the NE at DL, there are plenty of choices and bases. You moving to MIA shows you made a change for the better. Good for you, but not every airline has the same trips---and you neglected to mention that. Your trips sucked because your airline had them, and you stayed there for 4 years. That was your decision. Another pilot might have taken your spot and loves it.

I'm glad you had the ability to move to MIA on your current plane, and enjoy where you go. It's good to have options. I never said everyone would like it, but plenty might want to have the option. INTL flying and domestic flying can be totally different, and trying both may allow someone to find something that they enjoy. You enjoy Caribbean flying, which is great. I enjoy Asia flying, longer 3 day Europe trips from ATL, and Rio. If you have the seniority to do something you enjoy, that's a great feeling. I'm glad you are happy. There probably are people in the NE who like the shorter Europe stuff. And, the food is better than domestic.....

I hear ya, when I first transferred to the 75/76 back in '08 all I wanted to do was long haul... I guess it was the fulfillment of a childhood dream, what with growing up watching Pan Am and TWA crews "living the golden life"... It didn't take long to realize I was not cut out for that kind of flying. Many pilots are. The best part about it is the productivity... We used to have a JFK-Budapest trip back in 2011 that paid 20hrs for a 3 day trip. Doesn't get much better than that.

Yeah, I work more flying the Caribbean... this month I got lucky and have 3 day trips worth almost 17hrs - other than the Caracas layover, it's a pretty good trip. Most Carib trips tend to be 3-day 15hr trips, or 2-day 10hr trips. But staying on my own time zone while enjoying the Carib-style flying more than makes up for the extra work.

Iron Chef... Not really but what am saying is eating airline food of any kind should be considered an emergency. Bragging about the airplane food on your trip brings in considerable questions about said individuals sanity.....LOL..Yhe wines can be good though....

General Lee, I flew Europe for four years out of JFK and lemme tell you... it sucked ballz. North Atlantic clearance hassles, constantly jet lagged, always tired, getting in at 1am body time and enduring a 2 hour ride from CDG to downtown Paris, waiting another hour for the room, taking a 2hr nap, waking up feeling like a zombie, not being able to sleep well that night, waking up at 2am body time for an 8hr + flt back... yeah, great, where do I sign up.

I since switched to strictly Caribbean flying out of MIA. 757 flying in and out of the islands, all daytime, no all nighters/time zone changes. Listen to the lyrics of "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere"... that's me.

To all you others wondering about the "glamour" of Europe flying - trust me, it ain't what it's cracked up to be.

The Genny has flown to Europe only in the back, he and his mom go there for vacation, when she can pry him from the computer. The only plane he flies is on MS FLt Sim, and his Stews are all blow up. The upside for him is, it's hard to taxi a computer into the weeds.

The funny part is, PBR did a terrible job dumping the lav on that flight. I looked out, and it looked like he had blue gravy in his mouth. Yutz! No wonder "Uncle" Steve likes you, you have a DIRTY mouth!

Here you go, if you get bored with the regionals you can hop over to the Air France boards. Maybe give them some career advice, in case they want to get on with an exciting carrier like Delta. They probably get bored doing the same kind of work all the time (you know - flying widebodies into Delta's hubs).

They might not appreciate your generous offer of advice, so if they don't play nice, then you can tell them that you're gonna take back that joint venture of their's in your NEXT contract. When that happens they'll be mopping the jizz out of their mom's peep show booth for a fistful of Francs after SweetThang and Uncle Steve get done hosing her down.

Basic, yes very basic, airline food sucks even on international trips..If you are having anymore than half a salad and maybe a bit of soup you are doomed. Ever wonder why things look so fresh and yet they were made 2 days ago ? And yes usually I can find something way more healthy than the airplane, anything is better than a meal prepare by an airline kitchen . BTW when i flew domestic 18 years ago I allways left he A/C to eat. You want to be in reasonable shape ( graduation wt.) when you get to like 55 ,then I suggest you change your dinning habits or you will look like one of THOSE guys.
