wait, are you talking about those black cd's? i've seen a few in antique shops, but i have no idea how to get them to fit in my car stereo system....

You have to break them up into itty bitty pieces for them to fit.

I use to listen non-stop to LocoLive from the Ramones, nonstop...ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR!!!! Unfortunately none of my friends digged it, I was alone. Oh well, screw em.

Also....
- Nirvana (for true nirvana fans, Incesticide's the best, still listening today)
- Rollins Band (though Henry was/is a whiney brat, great music)
- The Clash
- The Strokes (not reaally punk but anyways...)

some more

When I was going to highschool in the OTHER nowhere NC, I dug punk.

$ex Pistols (johnny rotten rocks) saw him on judge judy about 5 years ago (he won too).

Dead K's

Ramones

KMFDM (not punk, more industrial but they are awsome) Saw a show on their ANGST tour at the Mascarade in ATL, VERY good show. They knew how to work the crowd into a frenzy

Seven Dust, saw their show at the above on Halloween night (more hard core but still fits)

Local H, not really punk, but you gotta love it when 2 guys get a sound like that (I would think it would cut down on band fights too when there are only 2 guys) High Fiven Mother F'er is one of my favs. Seen them a bunch of times.

I saw that!

He was being sued by a drummer he'd hired for a tour, who said he was dismissed without cause and assaulted (headbutt).

Mr. Lydon was WAY cool! :D

Coolest lyrics ever ...

"Big lizard in my back yard ... I don't think I'm gonna' feed him any more!"

"I don't pi$$, I don't $h!t, I'm get'n no relief ... people shake their heads in disbelief. Go!"

"Bitch'n Comaro ... Bitch'n Comaro ... I ran over my neighbor!"

"F@%* this and f@#* that ... f#@* it all and f@#% that f@#&'n brat! I don't want no baby that looks like that! She don't want no baby that looks like that!"

"We ain't got no friends ... no Christmas cards to send ... our troubles never end ... Daddy likes men!"

"DDT did a job on me. Now I am a real sickie. Guess I'll have to break the news ... that I got no mind to lose!"

I just realized I must be the weirdest 42-year-old (birthday today) father in history. I am a former soldier, professional musician and Buddhist Monk who now plays dress up for the office as a manager in an IT company, and who drives into work listening to everything from Digital Underground to Dead Milkmen to Segovia, and when finally here I just sit for hours dreaming about the next time I get to go flying.

Geezus ... my poor kids.

:(

I love Screeching Weasel and the Descendents,Adolescents too...

anyone has ever heard of Weston? theyre a cool pop punk band from PA.

GBH is pretty cool too,Pulley, i used to get all the Epitaph Records releases for free when i used to do a zine, not anymore....

Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized

Here's the song/band that started the whole punk/skate movement in California, I love this song...pretty much everything else from S.T. sucks (IMHO)

edit: lyrics too long, see link...

Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized

So you're gonna be institutionalized
You'll come out brainwashed with bloodshot eyes
You won't have any say
They'll brainwash you until you see their way

I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized

They stuck me in an institution
Said it was the only solution
To give me the needed professional help
To protect me from the enemy, myself

Rest of song here...

Mr. J Cash was punk-ified
Vandals fun Ca. punk
SO much good music.

Suicidal tendencies first album is a masterpiece i think, all the songs are great, as well as the words "dont wanna pump nobodys gas I want more!"

One great thing is after landing at my home airport, drive home while listening to a good punk band on the stereo, after your flight went well and your done for the day, it really makes you feel good"

i think for most of us punk was something we got into before it became fashionable, so thats why we hold it so dear, cause it was never a fashion for us, its way more than that...

anyone remember any punk song that deals with airplanes or pilots?

Theres a book by Charles Bukowski (great writer) that in some part, mention that hes flying somewhere but hes afraid to flight, and then recommends never to stare into the eyes of an airline pilot, cause theres something weird and dark in those people, haha something like that.....and he may be right!

Punk and airplanes...hmmm...

Jawbox broke up and reformed as Burning Airlines.

Jawbreaker reformed as Jets To Brazil.

NOFX - S & M Airlines :D

Some high(low?)lights: I got booted for drinking one of John Doe's beers at an X show (I've seen them innumerable times), got arrested for fighting at a Replacements gig (expensive mistake) and been showered in spit, front row, watching Stiff Little Fingers. All before I turned 18.:)

I haven't heard any "punk" I like in awhile.

Currently in rotation on the CD player:
Fugazi
Jawbreaker
Jawbox
Husker Du
Built to Spill
Sunny Day Real Estate
Pinback

I'm ready to hang with HMR, I was "special" also.............

Wow, there is hope. After be totally convinced that every pilot I've ever met is a total dork, including me, then this thread comes along. Way too many RONs with guys saying, "Hey do mind if we listen to my Michael Bolton/Kenny G CD/station" in the rented Malibu. I used to want to shove icepicks in my ears, now I just say NO. In the changer in the trunk;

Ramones
999
GBH
AIR(not punk by a longshot)
Radiohead
Coldplay

I stopped going to punk rock shows after I got my mouth smashed by a random elbow in a local pit. A week later (my mouth healing just fine) I was hit by a speeding reversing car fleeing a beatdown in the parking lot.

Heavy Metal and Reggae shows never had quite the violence that the punk shows seemed to produce. I was not a punk, it just wasnt me, but I always loved the music from when I was in elementary school in the 70's... I just liked my hair long!

HAHAHA fast forward to the late 90's... Im in flight school I spot a fellow student with a DRI tat on his leg. I mentioned something like "cool DRI" and his eyes just lit up. Apparently I was the first fellow aviator that didnt ask him "what is that a dancing person"?

It's always kind of funny how many people ask me what the hell the Black Flag sticker on my flightbag is. Funnier when I tell them what it is. Conversation usually ends when I resign myself just to say I put myself through flight school as an exterminator. Whatever...

The DRI logo was one of the most popular back then uh? i had a DRI tshirt back in high school and the DRI logo as a licence plate, a friend of mine painted it for me...MInor Theat, wow cool band, did u heard about the NIKE poster ripping off the Minor Threat cover? In the end NIKE made a statement saying they were sorry.
http://www.fotolog.net/123probando/?photo_id=7692065 you can see it here on my site

i was gonna put a THRASHER magazine sticker on the flight bag, but didnt cause i knew i would have to answer the "what does that mean?" question way too many times

There was nothing like Bono and U2 when they were young and live.

The Clash, The Cure, The Furs, and what about Joy Division and Ian Curtis, and "Love will Tear Us Apart".

Not to forget Bauhaus with Peter Murphy, the father of Goth, saw them at the Palladium in Los Angeles a few years ago when they reunited.

I also saw "X" there about the same time when they reunited including Billy Zoom.

I've got a "X" story that tops HMR's, Before X reunited, I got to tag along with a friend when he went to see Billy Zoom in his house in Orange. He showed us all his personal momentos, got to see his silver leather jacket and silver Gretch and chat with him on his sofa. We were there for about 2 hours. He's really a great guy, pretty normal guy too.

Back in 1980 or '81 I saw DOA, The Dicks, and The Stains all at one show at a scummy club in Houston. Now THAT is some punk rock.

About a year ago I was putting my flight bag up on the x-ray belt and the guy behind noticed the black flag and circle jerks sticker, he then got my attention and said "I did not expect to see that on a pilots bag", he then showed me his IPOD and he was listening to who's got the 10 1/2.
