There were 575 before the furloughs. So it just depends on how many come back.

Speedbird,

I sat down in a meeting with the Director of training the other day and he said that they do have to put out a call to the APL (j4j) pilots because this is a new order of airplanes. If you no more than he does than I would be very surprised.

Weasil, your right. An offer for 20 capt positions went out to APL guys the other day. Calling through the list to start Dec 8th I think. they have still had guys taking capt positions but I believe they already had a last call some months ago for f/o positions. So, if there's anyone on the APL list that wants to come over to a capt slot they have another chance. F/O's it's closed and no more offerings to APL guys. Now I do believe they basically gone through the list, and that last offereings they barely filled. So this time around, if they don't fill all 20 spots, they will call Everyone on the list again, and put out a final notice. If after the final notice the 20 slots aren't filled, then it closes and no more APL guys will come over as capt or f/o.
So the j4j issues are almost over and all new spots will be held by PSA f/o's upgrading and new hires off the street. Look for somewhere around the 15th of dec. to see if they fill all 20 spots, or not.

Psa is now starting the recall on Dec. 27th 2004!! Yee-Haw! The sooner the better....
That's great! I haven't heard that yet but I hope it's true. Do you have any more info? How many will take the recall? I know of two that have moved on.

hey guys thats great news, just wondering whats the current upgrade time like now for a newhire?
A long time. :)

There will be PSA pilots withover 3.5 years that will likely miss upgrade if any APL pilot decides to come here. Now, if we continue to get more aircraft past the 9 and the J4J list finally shuts down, it should come reasonably quick for newhires. But until more deliveries are announced, all upgrades after these will be from attrition.

I also have to add my big ole WELCOME BACK to all the furloughed PSA pilots! It will be good to see you all out on the line!!

Peace!

Skeezer

Don't get too excited yet! New Flash! If talks fail with unions, well its been said Jan. will be the start the Chapter 7 process!!!

I hate to add more rain to the parade, but something else to consider is that if the AFA strikes, its all over. . . .
