Platt is entirely contract guys. Don't know how to get in with them if they aren't advertising. I met two of their SICs going through initial about a year and a half ago at SimuFlite. Good guys, they had already flown a little with Platt prior to school and they seemed to like it as well.

Those two guys kept pretty busy. It was the only employment for both pilots. One was flying as hard as he could and the other would fly at his convenience, he was retired USPS and had the Platt job to supplement his retirement.

In that case, how can we find out how to get in with Platt? That really sounds like it would be a good fit. I am wanting to stay in the NW. Anyone have the contacts. Thanks.

Not to be disrepectful to you, but what is good about a company that does not employee their own pilots yet hires contractors on a per-diem basis? Ever try and purchase a house on per-deim? Ever have to pay for your own health insurance? Does per-deim offer you a 401K?

Platt is looking for guys with King Air & Citiation type ratings who do not "need" a full time job. With only 1000 hours you would be better off at Aero Air flying air ambulance.

PDX is a weird market. For some reason, more than not, many flight departments in the operate this way. With the exception of Nike, Common Sence, and couple of other large aircraft operators, PDX is crappy place just for this reason.

Before you call me a mal-content, I have one of the good jobs in the PDX area. I just feel bad for the guys who have to compete with career flying vs per-deim.

G100,
I am not the normal flightinfo type. I actually appriciate honesty and opinions without "popping a circuit breaker." I have 1400 total now and I will look up Aero. Only per-diem, that sucks, I did not see that posted earilier on the threat. Finding a good job in the region is getting fairly tough and I do know that I have low time still, but I am looking for something for a year or two just to get things rolling. Thanks for your .02.

Might want to add that you can't buy a house in the Portland area for what Aero pays, especially for a co-pilot position. Your job is the one exception to that.

I agree with you on the Platt thing. Pilots sure put up with a lot of crap from so-called employers.

A very good source tells me that Platt is looking to add another Citation pilot to their contract list. That was the word a few weeks ago. Things may have changed. I imagine you need to have a type rating already, however, I am not sure. My "source" already had one, but they did send her to differences in Dallas.
