I worked at Aero Air, I don't work there now, that tells you something. Portland is a pretty small market, but a nice place to live. I commute to and from Seattle.

Evergreen upgraded to a GIV a couple of years ago. I still wouldn't want to work there, though. And, unless things have changed, it is not hard to get hired over there. They have a revolving door-- but expect to get paid very little and worked like a dog.

What, flying a non-RVSM G-II, in a constant fuel emergency, to all parts of the uncivilized world with you own criptograph ... what is not quality about that!

This is true. I used to work there. They have a lot of customers that they manage, however, most of the aircraft are based in other states. I have a lot of contacts in the Portland/Hillsboro area, and it's still tough.

You can always give Global Aviation a call in HIO. They manage some decent aircraft, as well.

You pretty much have to wait until someone in the flight department dies to get a chance to work at one of the two or three decent coporate flight departments.

I used to work at Premier Jets as well. It's a rediculous place to be. When the owner's time is up, I want to go to the funeral just to see how many people AREN'T there.

Flightcraft doesn't seem to be hiring right now. When they do hire, it really is a pretty good place to work, all things considered.

So, what you're saying is that there aren't any decent jobs open at the moment in the Portland area. That is what I have seen lately.

Aero Air is OK, like any other management company it depends on the client and the situation. There are some great accounts there and some lousy ones. Then, there is the air ambulance stuff, which is about the same as most air ambulance operations.

I used to fly the Lear for Del out of MMV, they frequently have openings. At least they they used to have a pretty high turn over.

How about some info on Flightcraft? What are they like to work for?

I like NIKEs decision to get the 2000EX ... especially the paint. I make sure I take photos of it when it comes here to SDL. Only two of my pics of the 2000 on A.net though.

It depends more on your qualifications than anything else. If I remember correctly, you need 2000TT and an ATP to upgrade, so if you start with 1000 hours, at 250 hours/year it's going to take a while.

On the other hand, some people have been hired directly as PIC in that program. I think they are fully staffed right now (PICs anyway), but some turnover is common.

This is all based on my somewhat fuzzy memory, so I could be wrong on any or all of the above.

How long does it take to upgrade at Aero Air on the ambulance side of things?

I've known a few of the instructors at Hillsboro Aviation that did/do the air ambulance thing for Aero Air while instructing, but once they get an airline gig they leave......

What is so bad about the charter side of things does it depend on the owner? And I could imagine why they would leave if they were only getting 250 hours a year.

Like any organization whether it be TAG, The Air Group ect, it always depends on the owner. Some owners treat their pilots great while others treat them like dogs.

lol...dead thread revival?

I live in Texas and have been up to PDX several times over the last year or so looking also.
The Falcon 2000 in Salem has been the same guys for years. There is a Citation 2 on 135 charter that does approx one flight a month, not hiring. A Beechjet, same story same captain there for years. I went to Eugene. The Chief pilot for Pape Group wouldn't even talk to me or take my resume (PPiva), I took that to mean they were not hiring. There is several more citations and things in EUG but they are on the other side of the fence, and hard to get to. A G-4, several citations, Astra, etc. Couldn't even get a bite from anyone.
