POOLIES: News from Jennifer

Just spoke to Jennifer moments ago. She told me that it still looks like I'll be in the late April class, but nothing definite. I didn't pry into too much else. I'm pretty close to the bottom of the pool list, (typed 8 Jan) but still optimistic. Anyone else heard anything?

That sounds great to me. I just dove into the pool last Friday. I interviewed 7 Jan.

When Jennifer spoke with me she said to expect a six month wait for a class date.

If you're going in late April and are near the bottom, well you just made my day!

That's great news, I spoke with her about a month ago and she slated me for April or May and I joined the pool Oct 31st. Just maybe I'll get the last March or early April class.

BTW how come not many on the pool list are scheduled for March 14th???

Before everyone getts too excited... I know that SWA has a history of "expediting" females through the process... I'm not saying it is right, wrong, or anything else... But I do know that they try to balance classes if they can, and that can "pull" someone up to a class date sooner. Actually, Jules, I don't even know if you are a female, just a guess.. but anyway, that's great news lets hope it keeps up!!

I do not post often, however I just was looking over the pool list and wondering how Southwest really determines when you actually go to class. JM told me "it is looking like the late April class" for me. If that is the case then there are Tons of people that are not on the poolie list, or they simply give prefrence to other folks. I don't understand this at all, I wish someone on the inside could explain this. I joined the Pool Oct 22.

There are LOTS of folks not on the pool list. Don't begin to believe the list is anything official or has some extra merit than what it realistically can show. I know of many folks who don't know of this web site or even if they do, don't post their info on it. Again, the intent when it got going was to give a "rough" very rough, idea on where some folks stand. It was & is not meant to be definitive in any fashion or used to hang one's hopes/wishes on for knowing when the call will come. This reminder needs to be read everytime you go & look at that page IMHO. Not trying to say it doesn't have value, just don't put too much on to it or imply SWA endorses it, truly unscientific!

Spoke with Jennifer today

Jennifer told me today that it still looked like it would be an April class for me but it was too soon to tell whether it would be the early or late April class. She said to wxpect to get the word towards the end of March so hopefully the next time I talk to her it will be her calling me instead of the other way around. I was hoping for a late March but it looks like there are a lot of folks going into the March classes that aren't on the pool list. With the number of people going into the Feb classes, I think most of us thought it would keep going but the list stopped shrinking recently. Here's hoping names start being matched with class dates soon!

Magic I am in the same waiting boat as yourself. When was your interview date, I interviewed Jan 21, and was told sometime after April, possibly May or June. I spoke with Jennifer on Monday 3-4 she said that they were adding classes, so that is great news. If you have heared different please let me know, thx\

SWA update

I spoke with JM today (6 March) and recieved the following. There are two classes tenetivly for May, and I won't be in them. Of course this is not what I wanted to hear. Previously I was told I wouldn't make the April classes and now I am wondering if I won't make June next time I call.

BTW I interpret the month you "don't make" as the month you do. I must confess some frustration at the extimates being given to people who interviewed in January. I am sure SWA has a system that is at least somewhat fair ... I just can't feed that to my kids.

So getting back to feeling the LUV ... if you look at our list you'll notice a gap in poolies between 15 Oct and 22 Oct. Add this information to the fact that we tend to pull 2.5 weeks worth of poolies off the list every two weeks and you can see that it is reasonable to predict that the 28 Mar class could go anywhere from Tweetpilot to McC depending on where the end of the 14 Mar class is. Too bad we don't have that data. Magic/Specnut, I am hoping that JM is just holding out on you until next week.

Another interesting tidbit is that the wait for a class HAS been betting shorter (the average wait for the 31 Jan class was 173.39 days and for the 14 Feb class 167.17 days)

I'd rather be wadding for LUV that furloghed anywhere else!

SWA Class???

I spoke with JM on Monday 3/5. She said I would not to be on property till May. I was hoping for the Aprill 11 class, but I guess it comes when it comes. It seems to be around a 6 month wait from pool to class so I guess I'm getting close. She also told me no classes were scheduled after April...

Does anyone have any thoughts about JM's class projection possibly having to do with protecting class slots to any of the stop loss people in the event they get out, before she makes the call to the non-stop loss folks.

JM's estimates

I still hold to my theory: for the average players in this field, JM pads her estiamtes by no less than a month. I asked her today if her estimate was with or without being released from stop loss and the polite non answer I got suggests to me that she has nothing to do/no direct knowledge of these projections. Yes, stop loss ending is going to change the landscape - to not be disappointed I am counting on at least an extra month wait if stop loss does end.

Besides, my tea leaves still say Qxe goes early April ...

Just a quick update spoke with JM moments ago, she welcomed me to the deep end and advised that a formal letter would follow. best geuss at a class date was Mid to Late summer but maybe as early as May. Interviewed on Jan 17, DB on the 20th Feb. Best of Luck to all, See Ya in KDAL.

Don't get me wrong, I think JM's doing her job the way she's been instructed. I'm just trying to keep the humor quotient up.

Just another data point for your and my calculations on when you can start drying off with a towel of LUV.

I spoke with JM today about 1300. I interviewed Oct 25 already with the type from my first attempt 2 years ago. At first she said an optimistic May class for me then explained nothing in May is set in stone including classes every two weeks. We talked about all the inputs to decide who comes out of the pool when and the fact that classes are 20 again. She then said I might/could optimistically expect a end of April class.

I honestly believe that until she starts calling to actually hard schedule people against a set date she cannot tell how far into her list she will get. I know there are people who are going to FedEx, who are not getting furloughed and thought they would, and so on. She is extremely busy right now I can imagine with the tons of interviews, classes, apps, etc that she gets everyday her crystal ball for predicting future classes is a little cloudy.

Have faith, every indication from the company is things are great for those of us in the pool. New airplanes, new routes, new hires, and rumors from inside the training house; none of it is bad. Remember the last step of the QRC (published by IVAUIR, the Supreme Crystal Gazer) SWEAT IT ----- DON'T

Even more confused

At 1600 eastern JM informed me that all classes are filled through April, and I am not in them. Now feeling paranoid!
She also confirmed no planned class dates after April, so June is what I should realistically expect if they reinstate 2 classes/month. My stats; type Nov 17 (after interview).

Not to say it isn't so, but I have a hard time believing that in the span of a couple of hours that JM had finished filling the Mar 28 class and started on the April classes. When I spoke with her I specifically asked because I was hoping for the Mar 28 class on an outside shot. She was specific in saying that March wasn't even filled. Anyway - a wait by any other name would be just as painful.
