I know everyone has received a PM from the webmaster to contribute to the fund to keep flightinfo.com free of upfront charges. For those who are struggling it is obviously difficult to make such a contribution. For those like me who have benefited from flightinfo in the past, please consider making a contribution to the cause. Having talked to hundreds of folks who have benefited from this service I urge you to consider helping flightinfo reach their goal of $5000. It is certainly worthy of our financial help in my opinion. My apologies to those who think I'm preaching. The amount isn't important as much as is the fact that one is willing to help others (& yourself) access highly useful information without a montly/annual fee.

I totally agree this is a great networking tool, and very important if you are out in the job market. It is the best $$ you can spend to keep this place running. It did sadden me to see so few contributors on the list. Come on guys, chip in a bit.

Amazing that the total has gone up nearly $800 since I last looked several hours ago. Great job guys. Please continue to put this thread back up near the top if it drifts down too far. Very, very, very valuable site. I'd hate to see it shut down for lack of payment to the server-gods. I've got to say, it is terrific that we have avoided those annoying pop-up ads like on the Fractional boards!

I thank God for this website, it's like having the front page of the news paper every time I visit this site. I am able to see exactly what's going on in the aviation industry without paying a monthly fee.

We have a great group of guys who care for one another and I personally want to thank those guys who have personally help me, you are all angels.

Great job folks!

A nearly $2000 increase in a little more than 24 hrs! To those who have contributed thanks again. Someone once said flying was a great job but a terrible career. Your contributions will maybe hellp the "pain" of those who are trying to further their career in order to do something they love. This effort only goes to show the folks who gather here are not the typical forum folks, good on ya!!!

I would just like to say that I have been lurking here in the background for a while learning many things from everyone's posts. Was a little hesitant to join a board, but this one is well worth it! I don't know your job status but thanks for contributing. To those other regular posters out there (how about it General!) please consider making a small contribution. I plan on adding to the end of each my posts from now on until the goal is reached a small comment about contributing to keep this great board fee free & a great source of info to others. Pls consider the same as a way to motivate folks into giving more. The totals have been going up steadily & that is a good sign. This isn't PBS fundraising but we ALL who visit here need to contribute something, regardless of the amount, thanks for reading & please contribute.

Got to echo Chase on this one. (Thanks Chase) This forum has been a lifeline for me over the last four years. (Anyone remember the "old" format?) These donations hopefully will help to keep this going for someone else.

I'd like to think of it like this...

Pilots are indeed a special breed. If I were to meet ANY of you in some pub somewhere, I'd be more than happy to swap some stories, tell some lies, and buy a few rounds. Consider this donation as a "few rounds bought" for those of you who I will never meet. (With my wife's endorsement, I might add.)

Like the spirit of the holiday season, it doesn't matter how much. So, how bout it? Buy a round for someone with a dream...the same dream you have had? Count me in.

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

(A pilot's version)

It was Christmas Eve, and Santa Claus had the late line yet again and was busy rushing his loadmasters to get the sleigh loaded in order to make an early departure (you see, all flying operations have the same things in common). Just as Santa was ready to get started on the trip, an evaluator appeared by the sleigh. Santa stopped the checklist and asked the handsome stranger if he needed help. The evaluator said, “Santa, I’m with the FAA and we need one more no-notice checkride to make our numbers this year; I know it’s Christmas and such but you have the last flight of the year so I don’t have a choice (as if there was actually some presence of human compassion).” Santa winced, hoped his pubs were current, and waved the evaluator onboard. The evaluator strapped in and just as Santa was cleared for departure, he pulled out a shotgun and laid it across his lap. Santa asked, “What are you going to do with the shotgun?” The evaluator replied, “Santa, I’m really not supposed to tell you this, but you’re going to lose an engine on takeoff!”

Two months ago I got a virus through paypal that sent my Credit card info to about 2000 dudes.

Within a couple of days, my card started to get charges I didn't make. So I had to cancel my card.

Is there any other way to pay, ie Check

I'm a broke college student and CFI (double whammy, eh?), but I still managed to contribute $10.00.

I know it isn't much, but its two hours worth of slinging bags for Corpex, and the first time I have contributed to any website. This place is an excellent source for rumors, networking, arguing and just plain wasting time.

Thanks for the site - I believe it will serve me well in my search for a flying job 16 months from now.

While I agree this is a great useful tool to find out about the aviation industry, I take offense to some of the insinuations that it is required to donate to enjoy this web board. The Internet is a great useful tool, but I don't feel this service is worthwhile if it becomes a charge service. I just warn people that planebusiness.com was once a free service, and now, no-one speaks of planebusiness.
I will not donate along with the majority, I just hope the service still remains free.

No flaming here. I will say that if every member donated 1 buck that they would meet their goal...unless my numbers are wrong. I have been wrong before. For all those without meaningful incomes now I would suggest they defer their donations until they gain meaningful income. You have to decide what is meaningful. I, for one, have enjoyed hangar flying with some here and felt I should donate. Have I learned something from this board? Sure! I learned about the attitudes of many in this crazy business, from supposedly just short of shuttle pilots to guys/gals just starting out. It is worth what you get out of it.

Think this is my first visit to this side of the field. I agree, this is a place where you can hang out and "talk". It is a modern day barber shop or local diner. Would rather be at a place like the Akron, NY airport where you're actually seeing people but this is the next best thing. Actually, that's not the meaning that was conveyed by your sentence structure. You appeared to be a moron, but your explanation reveals that you're just not very good with grammar. I apologize for taking you to be a moron. Please forgive me.

In the future, I suggest a sentence structure more along these lines: "I will go along with the majority in NOT donating..."

This order of words clearly acknowledges that the majority have not donated, and you're content to herd with the masses.
