You gotta know the right way to play it, you cant just throw it at them. Talk to them for a while, when they get around to the question of what do you do, tell them that you work at the airport, they get curious, and say what do you do at the airport(getting worried that you throw bags) and you casually say I am a pilot, like it is no big deal. From there its panties off.

ROFLMAO...i almost had pepsi coming out of my nose when i read that one! i can tell you that being a pilot when you're a chick is a lot more effective for picking up guys. even though i'm a private pilot, and i thoroughly explain what that is, guys seem to be pretty impressed. they think its cool and always wanna go for a flight (till i explain what a 172 is, then they pu$$ out). i don't tell em' that's what i do for a living though...i tell 'em that's what i do for fun.

I bagged my doctor wife by telling her I was a broke commuter pilot trash flying a little 37-passenger puddle jumper for about $1500/mo, sleeping on an air mattress and making fancy meals out of ramen noodles with 2 other roommies.

Imagine her response....

Needless to say, my commuter years weren't that painful after that, occasional emotional trauma aside.

Btw, I'm not a weekend warrior, just haven't updated. I have about 1000 dual given now, I'm paying my dues, but man, I love the way the girls respond to pilots, even if I am only making 20K a yr.

1000 hours dual given! Wow! Son, I've got more hours on aircraft while unconscious in multi engined jets than you have flight time.
BTW, you had 300+ hours listed on your TT. Since you registered in Sep 04, that'd mean that you've done a helluva lot of flying since then IF you have 1000 hrs dual given. And FWIW, 1000 hrs dual given doesn't impress me.

I'm on wife V2.1 (she had an augmentation modification ... mmmm, nice mod; highly recommended). When I met her, she knew that I was a pilot (on a TDY with my Guard unit; she's an AF ICU nurse). I don't try to hide the fact that I'm a pilot; it's just that I found it to be a hindrance.
She had four types of men that she said she'd never date:
1) Guys with kids (I have two from a previous marriage)
2) White guys (she's Hispanic; I'm white as wonder bread)
3) Academy Grads (filled that square)
4) Pilots
In spite of that, she married me. Did I mention that she's a decade younger than me?
Stick with the pilot line, son. It's your strong card. Maybe you'll grow up one day and develop a personality.

did i say anywhere in that post that i was working on getting laid? its a great conversation starter. i suppose by using the terminology that i did, it sounded like that but its not what i meant. i used the phrase "picking up guys" loosely (no pun intended) and doesn't mean i'm taking them home. talking about aviation, flying...etc is a good way to weed out the idiots that only want to get in your pants by saying that they are pilots

Nothing says desperate and creepy like trying to use your career to get you laid. It doesn't matter what career it is. Also it annoys me because most professional aviators, like major airline pilots don't use it; it's usually the dorky student piltos that try it. Personally, I have never played that card ever and wouldn't even think about using it.

I played the pilot card once, right after i got my private pilot license. At a bar, conversation went on till the "what do you do?" question came up. I told the girl, trying to act all cool, I'm a pilot...she responded Bull...I tried to convince her that it wasn't a cheesy pick up line. I told her I could prove it and showed her my pilot license, it was the old paper license..she looked at it and said..This isn't real..you're full of sh--! That ended that.

And then there was the time I was in uniform, brand new co-pilot with my shiny bars on, checking out of a hotel and another hotel guest came up to me and asked if I could get his car for him.
