It may be my imagination, but whenever I look at the "selectee" line it seems at least half are shapely, attractive, young women. And heaven help the high-school or college women's volleyball or basketball team that shows up for a flight - they're sure to get nabbed. Especially, it would seem, it they're wearing shorts. But, we all know the system is random....

I'll second the female comment of "random".. At times I wish I had their job (in a dream of course), frisking the young things at the secondary screening.. I make sure I take my time observing (like the rest of the guys are) during the pat down of the females.

Take a look at the secondary screener's too.. not the wholesome type in my opinion.

Anyway. in uniform with ID badge... why go to the ticket counter if you don't have to, even if you do... why show the boarding pass? Most of these bozo's don't know which carrier's are flying out of the airport. Just say your working a flight and that ends the screening process right there... Works for me every time. even going to a terminal where my carrier doesn't fly out of.

I never understand why some crew members willingly subject themselves to the secondary screening process. Am I missing something?

Here's a question...

If you have an AOA badge for the airport you are nonrevving out of, do you have to go through security, or can you just swipe your badge?
It depends on what that Airports rules are.

As far as the FAA regs; If you have a SIDA badge for an airport, you can walk right out a side door and get on the airplane.

I learned that in GSC class back in college.

Shocked me too :)

Interesting.

I've had the thought that TSA screener would be a dream job for a guy with a foot fetish...

I thought about that after I was on the plane. Not showing them my Boarding Card. Never crossed my mind. Normally I wouldn't go to the ticket counter, but as I stated in my first post; I hadn't listed for the flight and Us Airways gate agents want you listed.

Tsa

Every time I JS I never show my pass to the TSA agents at security. Just my airline ID card will get you through. I got quite a few looks at CLE once when I commented a little too loudly that the CLE TSA station was the worst F'ing one in the country. They asked me three times if I had a ticket as I was tring to go to my aircraft to fly. What a bunch of morons.

Thoughts?? Who cares? We can't change policy, so why piss and moan. The TSA was created overnight by idiots. It's employed by idiots, managed by idiots, and headed by idiots.

I have a metal rod in my leg and go off 60% of the time. I just smile and enjoy the morning rub down.
Wrong you are. The TSA was created because of a liberal
media that demanded a knee jerk reaction to a problem
they created by ignoring the fact that pre 911 boxcutters
were perfectly leagal as carryons in their "in depth" 30
second sound bites.

Now we are saddled, thanks to those ba$tard$ with a
giant government buerocacy that is bound by the most
warped, liberal, non-offensive to everyone, pollitically
corrupt(er correct?) left coast nipple chainer, tree hugger
pansy fruitcake, hamstringing set of rules that God help
if they try ti find out what is under that turbin rules
that any convoluted SOB from the ACLU could come
up with...

And to top that off they know that Pilots are
the top of the threat list cause they know
how to fly an airplane, and some of them know how
to and are allowed to carry a sidearm.

END RANT< CARRY ON

My God...Clinton created the TSA? And all this time I thought there was a Bush in the White House! I guess the buck stops some other place...

Thanks for the update. It was a real eye-opener!

I think for many, actually all that have repiled to this post so far have forgotten what took place 9/11/01. It has become like a movie or a fiction novel to you all. It has been so glorified and so much chaos has come of it you all have put it the catagory of not being real anymore.

I will tell you right now that terrorism is very real, and that there are people of ALL COLORS, AGES, GENDERS AND PHYSICAL CAPEABILITIES out there right now that want to kill you and your family, and everyone else that resides in this great country.

Right now as you all b!tch and moan about TSA and screening proceedures, the TERROIST is plotting a way to take control of your airplane.

Just because you and everyone else thinks the next terrorist is going to be a Middle eastern Male, they will plan to send the 80 year old grandma with TNT shuved up her A$$ to blow the plane up.

If you are a qualified 121 pilot there are ways for you to voluteer to protect your Flight Deck, protect your country, and take care of the problem you all are complaining about!

I know you didn't say it, but I'll say it...PROFILING. Thats what was done when I was in law enforcement and it works. For example, you rarely see an african-american serial killer. Every offender, generally speaking, fits into a certain profile. Im sorry, but an 80 year old woman in a wheelchair is not a terrorist, so don't choose her to be screened a second time. Focus on caucasion males and Middle Eastern males. (let the flames begin)

It's not about racial profiling. What exactly are they looking for? Can anyone specify? I feel bad for my friends from Lebanon and Turkey to name a few. They're looked at as terrorists because of the way they appear even though they're as far from it as the rest of us.

In my humble opinion, flight crews, non-revs (every time I flew on a buddy pass in the past I was a "ssss") and senior citizens are chosen for one specific reason. TSA, like cops, must have some sort of quota for the number of folks they need to "selectively screen". If you know you're not going to accomplish anything and just going to piss people off, who do you choose first? The answer is simple.

People who won't bitch and moan about the "ssss" screening. Flight crews can't bitch because they risk losing their job. Non-revs can't bitch because they're flying for free (or real cheap) and want to get on the flight, and seniors generally choose not to bitch. They just kind of roll with the program.

Just my $.02.....

Like & Live with it. Over 2000 people lost their lives because some idot dressed like a pilot was actually riding jumpseat in the cockpit and took the airplane down. Be assuring that hopefully we all are safe and if it takes you a few extra minutes to go through security, oh well. That seems like a small price to pay to be safe.

There is absolutely NO proof that any of the hijackers were either in the jumpseat or in a pilot uniform. This is a fable.

Garbage. That story was discredited a long time ago.

Where are you guys flying out of of? On the west coast, the TSA has been mostly courteous to me and I rarely get selected for secondary screening. Hasn't seemed to matter while in uniform or jumpseating at the last minute.
