Concessionary contracts and bankruptcy contracts are two different ballgames, but you are too much of an idiot to know that. I have no faith in anything ALPA does as its an association and not a union. I pay dues for what? Contract maintenance? Does not work. I pay dues for what? protect my seniority? Nope, they sold that away too. Grievance? Then why do they just say "fly it and grieve it later" and the pay out is a way better benefit for the company than for me.

Really??? What's substandard Wages for Piedmont, CommutAir or Great Lakes??? LOL, it would be big pay raises for any airline that doesn't operate Regional Jests. If you're going to draft a letter like this come together and come up with acceptable Pay Rates and workrules as a guide line for everyone.
What about airlines that already have good Benefits???


This was a worthless piece of paper..... The pilot shortage will adjust pay accordingly.

If you are stupid enough to think CH13 is the same as giving up pay for more jets, don't worry you will find out soon enough. As a airline pilot it is statistically unlikely you will not experience a bankruptcy.
 
It is worth noting, also, that Moak just figured out the regional reps won't vote for him again and the mainline and legacies already don't trust him. This is Moak trying to stay in control a little longer as super MEC of ALPA by pandering to the guys who gave him the big win last time. Someone give him his gold watch and tell him to go fly a line again. Make sure you call up you MEC and Vice MEC and tell them you think someone else should lead ALPA.

Moak isn't a bad guy, and he sees the road we are on. The time to educate is past and now the guys who believed in him are left out in the cold because of Moak's lack of communication. The legacy guys think he's siding with the dirty and dying regionals, or code shares, when the future is clearly wrapped around them.

It is painful, but the regional side will implode. I had hoped the transition would be less painful, but no dice. How did it all go so sideways so fast? The next ALPA president needs to embrace what everyone has been screaming for. A strong new union that draws a line in the sand and gets rid of the fiefdoms and makes guys tow the line. The sooner we pilots and union leaders embrace the lessons of the electricians, plumbers, UAW, the sooner this job can become a profession.

However, pilots are a fickle lot, and hilariously anti union. So while we blame the union for all our woes-and scream for their leadership and control, we will sabotage their every effort in a self fulfilling prophecy that will keep us firmly screwed to the floor. It would be funnier if it wasn't so sad and pathetic.
 
Just to be clear, is SkyWest riding coattails by having the SAPA President's nameon this list? Or would it have been coattail riding if his name were not on this list?

Just so it's clear, it's coat tail riding either way because he can't do anything about any piece of paper he puts his signature on.

Awesome. But that paper would be even more worthless without the largest regional pilot group representative's name on it, no?

Whether his name is there or not, means nothing. When there is no certified bargaining process to back it up it's not binding, and therefore doesn't have the leverage to make a difference. So either way, the organized groups will make gains and the Skyw pilots will benefit without sacrifices (or spine) of their own, ergo, coat-tailing.

That paper is worthless without mainline pilot unions backing it up. But we were talking about coat tail riding, not the worth of the paper the coat tail rider signed.

Unions, religions, all supremacist cults. Since I'm nondenominational and live in Utah, I must be riding the coattails of Mormons. There was a period called The Dark Ages, you should read up on it.

I live in Utah, a state founded by Mormons. I'm sure most everything in this state was done mostly through the church and its dues paying members. I live here, enjoy all the hard work they did and continue to do, and I don't pay tithing to the church. So this makes me a coattail rider, correct?

I guess this logic only fits when its your shoe on your foot.

Yes, if that is truly the case, then you are a coat tail rider. That term applies everywhere.

Like I said, if YOU believe that, then the definition would apply to you. Do you not understand that concept? The definition of coat tail rider is universal. Some people are and some there aren't.

I seem to recall about the 2002/2003 timeframe when the MECs of all 3 AAA wholly owned carriers "agreed" to work together WRT negotiations on RJs. Ask some old time PSA guys about that.

No, coat tail rider term applies to a lot of people. Skywest pilots are a very small group that it applies to. And many of them actually want to help the profession by pulling their own weight.

Why are you so defensive about pilots?

You regional pilots have MGT exactly where you want them!!!!!!!All you have to do is vote NO on the next contract,since there are NOT thousands of pilots out there with ATP certificates waiting to take your jobs,now is the time to STRIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!What can MGT do anyway,get mad??????????Have a FIT??????It takes BALLS for crewmembers/pilots to STRIKE!!!!!!!!!!!Careful though!!!!!Striking IS a TWO-edge sword,it could CUT you by costing you your job and the company going out of business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
