Any chance the middle eastern companies (Emitrates, Qatar, etc) will ever look at basing outside the middle east? Or at least look at commuting type employment?

Doubtful - it's an issue of control. They'd rather pay you significantly more than give up control.

One thing that I find pretty interesting about the "salary war" that has come from airlines abroad trying to attract qualified crews is that many locals are leaving their national airlines and looking for bigger pay days at other places, several pilots from Air India, Korean, EVA (I'm talking locals now) have left for jobs in China and the M.E. Interesting times
