PUBLIC INFO FROM 800-282-ALPA

Fellow Pilots,

This is Captain Dario Miranda with an urgent update to the VARS on September 14.

It has come to the attention of the MEC that the “ Single Carrier Petition Letter” is causing some concern amongst our members. I would like to apologize for the confusion that the timing and tone of the letter may have caused.

ALPA national staff drafted this letter in response to concerns that our members may not have been fully aware of the gains that could be achieved with a single carrier petition.

As the MEC has stated, our position on GJ LOA is not positive, but neutral. The Single Carrier Petition letter was not intended to support a “yes” or a “no”, but to inform you of the gains that could and could not be attained by the Single Carrier Petition.

Furthermore, the MEC was advised by several of our members that flight managers are distributing a similar copy of the Single Carrier Petition letter with Duane Woerth’s signature. That letter was not endorsed by the MEC.

Management, in an effort to sway the vote in their favor, has purposely distributed the Duane Woerth letter without the approval of the union. We are aware that Flight Managers and Mechanics have been distributing the letter to pilots.

Please vote based on the information that your union has provided you, not the propaganda or misinformation that management has leaked in the past few days. Remember, you are voting on the company’s proposal, and management has much to gain from the ratification of the agreement.

If you have not attended a roadshow, or if you have any questions regarding the Single Carrier letter, please contact a union representative immediately.

Once again, the MEC is has been committed to giving you the opportunity to express your opinion based on facts and our bargaining history with the management team. The position of the MEC remains neutral, despite management’s overt and obvious efforts to ensure the ratification of this LOA.

To vote on the internet go to the ALPA website log in and go to the my alpa link, then look for the elections link on the left side of the page and that will lead you to the electronic balloting. Use your same member number and password to log into the balloting website.
To vote using the telephone:

• Call 1 – 888 – 647 – 1787.
• You will be prompted to enter your seven-digit ALPA member number – (no dashes and remember to use the leading zero(s) if necessary) and your ALPA password.
• You will select the ballot entitled ***** LOA Ratification Ballot.
• Follow the voice prompts to cast your vote.
You may change your vote at any time during the voting period.

You are wrong!

**jets will not disappear. Transtates Holdings needs to have two separate airlines because of the APA 50 Seater Scope clause. It is the only option available for them to be able to fly for United; (aka) Repulblic, Chautauqua, Shuttle America.

Yes, the certificate itself will not disappear, but the seperate seniority list will. As a pilot, it doesn't matter one bit to me how many certificates an airline (or holding company) has. It only matters to me how many seniority lists that there are.

Reading the above VARS message, it would appear that the MEC is trying to direct the membership towards a NO vote without actually saying so. The "neutral" official position looks very good politically. When dealing with judges, arbitrators, and the NMB, politics and appearance is very important. If it was me having to cast a vote, I would probably vote NO based on the above information from the MEC. Just my 2 cents.
