Anyone have experience they can share about providing training records from a previous employer that is now shutdown? Not sure what to give to prospective new employer seeing how 8 of my 10 years was at a defunct carrier

They took the funct out your last carrier? That's funct up.

Do companies have to pull PRIAs or is it up to the company?

Say again?

I know its a crazy question and I can't think of any reason that a company wouldn't pull PRIAs, but is it law that a company (121/135) must get PRIAs on their pilots? Also how far back do they have to go, I have heard 5 and I have heard 10 years. What about the NDR, how far back does that go? How long does a company have to respond to a PRIA request? If a company does not respond can you still legally fly or is that the companies problem? PRIAs are a bit of a mystery to me, because the laws covering them are not in the FARs as far as I know. Sorry I think there are about 10 questions in one post.....

I have been though something similar. If I remember correctly, even when a carrier shuts down there is an administartor for the company that pays off debts , pays final paychecks and shuffles paperwork. I believe as far as the PRIA stuff goes, they will keep it for about a year after the company shuts the doors and after that its file 13'ed.

If your current employer manages to get the records (and they should be able to) be sure to get a copy of the records for yourself. That way when you get your next great job you can hand them the records. They don't count as a background check, but it will reassure your employer that you did work there until they can get the records from whoever is managing them.

You can thank Sen John Mcain for the PRIA. All the blame rests with this knee jerk politician. He introduced the bill.

It would be the one bill that he has introduced that did something good then.

Are you kidding me? What does a politician know about aviation? This reminds me of the "paperwork reduction act" that causes a additional piece of paper to be attached to my medical app.
