Sorry Surf....

Still in indoc. Two weeks of indoc fun. I literally mean...fun! Night and day difference from that turd in PDT training trying to scare the info to you!

I start systems and sim in 2 weeks. Then I'd better stay off this board!

I thought everyone that was hired at mainline was put into a hiring pool until they feel the need to start taking some guys. So realistically it doesnt matter the order in which they interview, but the order in which they take pilots out of the hiring pool. Just food for thought. Oh yeah and we just placed an order for 55 Dash-8 400's with 100 options.

Speaking of new airplanes...apparently we're in the "running numbers phase"
Here's an article from the Air Transport Intelligence news stories at http://www.rati.com.

US Airways to explore "other options" for Dash 8 replacement
Mary Kirby (11Jan08 17:17 GMT)

US Airways has left the door open to replace subsidiary
Piedmont Airlines’ aged Bombardier Dash 8 fleet with aircraft
other than the Q400 or ATR turboprop under review by the Star
Alliance member.

In an employee newsletter dated January 10, US Airways senior
VP, schedule planning and alliances Andrew Nocella says: “We
continue to look at the multiple options available to replace
or extend the life of Piedmont Dash 8s.

“Choosing a successor plan for Piedmont is no small task. The
new fleet choice will be something we live with for 15 to 20
years.”

Nocella says that while Bombardier’s Q400 “is an amazing plane
and is being considered”, its high capacity and fast speed
relative to a Dash 8 may make it “more suited to replace RJs
than Dash 8s”.

The ATR, meanwhile, is “slower, smaller and cheaper to fly
than a Q400 but at its heart a very old design and much less
capable plane on longer mission”.

The US Airways executive adds that there are “many pros and
cons to evaluate with these choices as well as other ideas we
intend to explore”.

Asked by ATI if US Airways is considering replacing Piedmont’s
Dash 8s with regional jets, a US Airways spokesman says:
“Regional jets really fit into [subsidiary] PSA, since they
are our all-jet operator.”

He adds that the carrier is “looking at all [turbo]prop
options” and that “it’s really early on so we’re still in the
running numbers phase”.

According to Flight’s ACAS database, Piedmont’s Dash 8 fleet
now includes Dash 8-100s and -300s. In addition to ATR and
Q400 turboprops, Bombardier’s Q300 has been discussed as a
potential replacement for Piedmont’s aircraft.

Well, shoot, ladies: There ya go.

The 900s for PSA, the BE99 for PDT. C'mon! THIS IS SO EASY!

At any real rate, I don't know of a lot of "overflights" that wanted the interview and didn't get it, but I certainly know of one. I'm flying with him. The shovels of SCHITT (yeah, mods, I'm evading the 2nd grade PHP junk here) they are feeding him are amazing, even by PDT standards.

** and upgrading a -100 to a -106 is paperwork. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm sure we'll find some replacement airplanes...

Saab 340s from Colgan? Theres some J31s hanging out in the desert for sale I am sure!
