Hostile goes both ways. Contract concessions? No fooling? Anyone tell you Airways is going broke?

How is the pilot group being hostile? Nobody at PDT is doing anything to the company other than what they want. And yes, we are already under a concessionary contract from the last go-round and they want more. I'm not interested in saving jobs, I'm interested in getting paid the most we can. Pilots are too eager to suffer for our art.

Go get another job! No where to go?

I got plenty of options, and unfortunately I'm pursuing them now. I didn't want to, but there is no light at the end of the tunnel and I don't really have a choice. I don't mind saving the company money but don't expect me to do things outside my scope of practice to save money then ask me to give up pay. "For the good of the company" is not my incentive. I don't care about the investors. Extra pay is the only thing that motivates me.


You need to fly the airplanes they way you are told to by the company. Grow up!

They wanted to keep the DASH 8's but the leases came up and the rates went through the roof. They are not economically a smart move now.

You pay dues too, dontcha? You even have a slot on our list, right? But when you crawl under a desk and "pray" for another promotion, yes- it is not YOUR union at all.

They are not here so you and I have an airplane to fly on the days I want to go to work.

I'm proud of being one of the few pilots who doesn't think its right to subsidize fares with my paycheck.

Answer - he wouldn't.

Read the history of this character's posts - he's a retired California police officer (no agency listed), was 44 years old in 2003, furloughed from Emory in 2001/2002 and got a WIA grant for a Citation type rating. No posts from July 06 until May 07, when he suddenly takes an interest in the Regional forum.

That sh!t is weak...

Bitching and complaining is useless

For those pilots at Piedmont (and other regional airlines) who are complaining about their company for one reason or another, consider this. You can be thankful you have pilot jobs, especially during our current recession. Stop worrying about what company management is doing (whether it's good or bad). Remember, you chose to become a pilot for Piedmont Airlines and accepted the job when they offered it to you. Your #1 job as an airline pilot, no matter if your working for Piedmont, Southwest, or any other airline is to do a job you chose to pursue. If you are no longer happy being an airline pilot and make the sacrifices that come with the job, quit the airline and go into another line of work. I am sure there are other pilots who would like to kick your butt out of the cockpit and replace you.

Or just another long-dormant screen name used for occasional (albeit in your case, much more subtle) flamebaiting?
 
Remember, you chose to become a pilot for Piedmont Airlines and accepted the job when they offered it to you. Your #1 job as an airline pilot, no matter if your working for Piedmont, Southwest, or any other airline is to do a job you chose to pursue. If you are no longer happy being an airline pilot and make the sacrifices that come with the job, quit the airline and go into another line of work.

The sacrifices many pilots make at airlines are unnecessary, and have nothing to do with the job as an airline pilot. Undercutting other pilot groups has nothing to do with flying airliners. Inept management has nothing to do with flying airplanes. Getting hauled into the CP office for a documented sick call has nothing to do with flying airplanes. These are problems that other industries have but rarely have all of them at once or the business would go under.
