Hey Rook, how's the new gig working out?

The financial hit was a kick in the 'nads but I should break even by end of year 2. Small class (6) and at first we all hated the fact that we were going to Finland for sims but it's actually great out here. Did I mention the women? Well think of your typical Scandinavian stereotype. It's pretty much true. And to use an analogy that our sim instructor likes to say, "You can't swing a dead cat without knocking down at least one.":pimp:

And to top it off they're all nice. No attitude. We're planning a bash next weekend when all the type rides are done.

And L70,

I'd be more than happy show you 'round town, but you'd prob'ly steal all the hot ones.:pimp:

I just wish that people could learn to actually land the CRJ. I am sick of flying with captains that have years of experience in the airplane that float float float and float down the runway, then give it the old three point slam. This is true when I commute on other carriers as well.

I see it a lot too. If you aren't over the screen at Vref, it will float. Most guys come over the threshold exceeding that speed usually by 5 knots and every knot adds like a couple hundred feet to your landing distance.

Rez, you had it right the first time, no need to delete it. *sigh*

If you look at it THAT way, it will take me until my 10th year as CA (age 50 approx) here to make back the total pay cuts post 2001.

Actual landing distance on a RWY contaminated w/ snow plus the 115% additionional FAR requirement (Wet/Low vis) at 46000 lbs is 6480. If there is slush, ice, higher lnding weight, or just a knot above ref the distance goes up. Landing on a 6500 foot runway with these conditions and a little fatigue doesnt seem too smart.

But don't forget this Capt is a "good guy", helped with "alpa" very "good stick" a real "company man". All of which will help but one oh ******************** wipes out 1000 atta boys.

No it doesn't seem to smart. If you "have to land" why file an alternate? When faced with those weather conditions just go to your alternate, screw the company.
