Ram Air Rocks!!!! Just thought I would add my two cents!

!?!?

"Airnet is hiring with right around Pt 135 minimum's"? It's been a long time but isn't that 1200TT? Most commuters are hiring with between 600TT and 1000TT. Was informed that Piedmont was hiring with 500TT and 50 ME (I do not work there but was told this by upper level management.)
... All of these places "you can be hired into twin engine a/c", admittingly it's not "As Sweet As a Caravan"
If it's all about money, your in the wrong business!

Sorry, I'm just trying to figure out why guys go to 135 freighter's over the commuters. Yes, to build time and I was a Freight Dawg myself in the day, definitely have better Instrument skills. I'm shocked that more guys from Ram in RDU do not apply at PDT or PSA, which both have bases in CLT, a 3 hour drive from RDU. PSA also has a DAY base which is 2 hours from CMH for Airnet guys. With out flaming me, someone fill me in??? When you say upgrade, you mean transition to the Jet (FO) or are you saying you'll be a captain on the LEAR in 12 months? Just wondering!
Thanks,
PSACPSP

Airnet is hiring with right around Pt 135 IFR minimums. I don't know what the multi minimum is, but there were people in my class with under 50 multi. The minimum you can make in a day is $111.20, and many make over that with overtime pay. In my first year I'll make a little over $30k. You start off in a twin rather than waiting to upgrade to one- unless you start in the Caravan which is a sweet plane. Upgrade to the Lears is running about 12 months and we have jumpseat privileges so that no matter where you're based, you can still get home on your weekends if you want.

Any freight job is great flying which will really make you sharp, regardless of which company you go to, you'll develop very quickly as a pilot. Good luck finding the job that suits you best!

Because at Airnet or a lot of other freight outfits, I can gain PIC experience and then Jet PIC experience later on while making more money from Day 1 than I would at any regional. I can actually afford to put a roof over my head AND feed myself all in the same month rather than alternating while I'm gaining experience. It's a long road getting to a career job in this industry, why choose to be broke for that whole ride?

There isn't an airline that I would like to work for in this industry that has an alliance with a regional network, so why would I go work for slave wages riding around in the right seat of some automated jet that does everything for me with other 600 hour wonders who would be lost if the automation went on the fritz? I'm not so interested in wearing a funny uniform or a gay hat that I'd be willing to put myself through that. When Southwest, FedEx, UPS or Airtran make an alliance with a regional, then maybe I'll go to one of those regionals. But as long as a regional is only leading me to a long term career flying for said regional at a ridiculous payscale with the shot of one day making it to Delta or United, I'll pass, but thanks for the offer.

Flight Express is a decent company to go to as well. They have no multi minimums and shoot you into the Baron based on seniority.

What about that rumor that was running around flightinfo that RAM and Package Express were going to merge?

It is in the process of happening as we speak. The Package Express folks are being trained over the next few weekends for Ram Air procedures. I imagine it will all be said and done within a month or two. I will miss all my Package Express bud's, but Ram Air knows what they are doing as well.

Hey Lou, when were you at Race City? I might know ya' I floated and flew to ROA-CRW run before I left for Colgan. I enjoyed my time there and have found myself second-guessing myself leaving...Oh well, here I am learning another airplane as we speak.

Regards,

Yes, Ram Air knows what they are doing. The higher ups don't tell us too much about plans for the future, but its obvious that with the Package Express buyout there's a good business strategy with solid finacial backing. Ram Air doesn't cheap out on much. If money needs to be spent to do things the right way, it gets spent. I think this company will be around for a long time.
