Lets look at ASA pay on 75 hours:

In 1998 a 4 year FO on the CRJ200 made about $2450 gross without per diem.

In 2006 a 4 year FO makes about $2737 gross without per deim.

In 2006 that equals only an increase of $287 a month gross. After taxes it is maybe $200.

For a 4 year Captain it is about $579 gross.

Well lets look at the average house where I live. It has almost doubled from what it cost in 1998. In 1998 you could by a house for $85000 and now they are asking $159000.

Not to mention gas has more than doubled, milk has doubled, everything has gone up but our pay. We as pilots are moving backwards, and really fast. I would hate to think about what Captain and FO pay will buy in another 5 or 6 years. I plan on not finding out.

Now FO's are coming to ASA with $100,000 in debt just to fly. Look at these numbers.

No wonder everyone at ASA wants to fly 90 plus hours. Guess who wins, not the pilot but ASA mgt. who doesn't have to hire more pilots.

Zero net gain is BS. I am tired of moving backwards.

:angryfireThat is why WITHOUT a 5-10% payraise, we are going to SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!!! That along with a lot of QOL and trip/dty rigs. Without that, ASSA mgmnt can Kiss Our @sses!!! You HEAR THAT JA?

J A has them lined up to replace us off the 70's for less money. I say if our union has any Cojones that we go & picket SkyWest's group interviews. Anybody with me?

Unlike picketing around the GO, or the airport, where nobody cares if we are a NorthWest mechanic, or a Comair Flight Attendant, we should travel to the puppy farm where our activities will get noticed.

We should bring free pizza, ALPA stickers and copies of Flying the Line. It would also provide a valuable education to the wanna be airline pilots that this is a profession, we are professionals and we have every right to earn a living for the 300+ hours a month we spend at the Airport.

AND factor in our insurance going up almost every year and no cost of living raises in sight....ASA pay really is moving backwards.

I heard there are plans to picket SKYW headquarters in St. George soon.

I've heard that also?

That has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard!

Obviously whoever came up with that jewel doesn't know the first thing about St. George.

Just about every aspect of ASA is backwards. Like I said before, ASA could be a great company if some management would disappear forever. And some of the backwoods mentalitiy could be somewhat refined to todays standards. Not picking on any one person here just simply put, it may be time for more drastic measures- hence the strike vote and time to walk the line.
