FWIW, the Boeing thing is more interesting than we think.....rumor has it that LCC has been in serious talks with Boeing recently regarding a large order for 737-3/400 replacement airframes. Throw in the A350 debacle and the 777/787 become very interesting to LCC as well. Boeing may be very happy to support this bid even if you throw out the 25% premium.

Well, there are rumors out there that we have a large Boeing order waiting, which would help them out. That would be announced after we get out of BK. I think they would rather us buy Boeing than go to USAir and turn into the borg with Airbus.

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Delta Air Lines CEO Gerald Grinstein and other executives held a series of conference calls with creditors in which they asked them not to support U.S. Airways hostile cash-and-share bid, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

U.S. Airways officials were still trying to arrange a meeting with representatives of Delta's official creditors committee, the report added, citing people familiar with the situation. The leader of Delta's restructuring, Marshall S. Huebner of Davis Polk & Wardwell, told the Journal they will examine the takeover proposal as it is obliged to do.

Did you read in the WSJ article who the creditors are? Sure, there are many, but large ones are Boeing, ALPA (we are owed $2.1 billion), and the PBGC. Why would Boeing want USAir (a major Airbus operator) to take over? We supposedly will order many new Boeing planes (we may have already, with an announcement after BK exit)--including 777LRs, 787s, and 737-700s. ALPA wouldn't vote to cut our throats. The PBGC wants to get back what it is owed. New stock will do that.

Yeah, the rest of the ALPA pilots are gonna go on strike if the Delta pilots don't get what they want! That's a good one!

The Delta pilots are going to get the same help and support they gave to every other pilot group in their situation. Better put your overcoat on, there's a chill in the air... TC

LCC and DAL also have many B-737's in common, in addition to the B757-767.

LCC has 96 B737-400/500s DAL has 71 next generation B737-800s. While they may share a common type, that's all they share. Not much commonality there.

LCC has 10 B767-200s, DAL has no 767-200s. DAL retired them for fleet simplification. DAL has 59 B767-300ERs and 24 B767-300s and 21 B767-400ERs. Again, those 767-200s only share a common type and that's about it. Again not much commonality.

The closest level of fleet commonality are the B757s. LCC has 44 757-200s, DAL has 121 757-200s with 13 more coming from AA. Unfortunately, LCC and DAL use different engines on their 757s.

For the most part the two airlines couldn't have a more disparate fleet.
