Here’s an analogy I find similar to those of us hanging out on this board looking for info:

In the movie “The Outlaw Josey Wales” there is a scene in which Clint walks into an old saloon, in an abandoned town, and asks for whiskey. The few remaining souls laugh at his request, because there hasn’t been whiskey in years.

I think of that scene every time I read a post from some young excited pilot looking for a job. We all sit back, laugh and say “ha, whiskey he wants..”

of course us young excited folks looking for jobs see all the posts of furloughed pilots, and it makes me think of Clint's "Unforgiven," at the end when he's about to finish off a stunned Gene Hackman

You're right though, with the little experience I have I can almost hear the saloon folks laughing when I apply for jobs. . . and cant help but laugh myself when I see some even brighter-eyed guy than me just starting his instrument rating with the hopes of a 747 airline career someday.
