Over at IFL, Cherry, Ameristar, Royal...

Havent seen anything new about these companys lately. Curious how things are, and whos hirring?

Hey Bob hows Eagle? Things are pretty good at IFL, steady anyway. Down to 7 FO's on the Convair, from about 13 this winter, even though nobody's really hiring. The grass always seems greener on the other side as the saying goes.

This month has been good so far. Hope it keeps up for us at Cherry.

We are hiring 2 Falcon FO's for a July class. Its on climbto350.com.

Sweet, glad planes are moving for you guys. I was in a bad place and time for me to be over at IFL, loved the job but outside of work things where hell. Had to make a change and lucky for me the grass has been much greener over here. Jobs great, make alittle more money and have a schedule. Herd things where fat for the winter over there. I was in MIA last week and saw 2 IFL Convairs. Whats going on with that? Where did the other FOs go?

IFL has two convairs in Miami doing runs into the Caribbean. Supposed to fly every day, but it's only been once a week. Sucks 'cause we could use one of those planes in PTK for the supposed summer season come August. Most of the FO's are going to regionals as always.

We have been very busy lately. Of course, it will probably fall off when it comes re-tooling time in July.

Cherry20's I guess they were a bit premature with the layoffs a few months ago if they are hiring already? And arn't we over due for some Palenque before 2am in in Laredo?

Some things never change, no matter what you are doing. For example, back in the bank check hauling days when things were busy everyone use to say, "we're getting caravans." When it got slow, it was "you better see if your old flight school has a spot for you." These days when it is busy everyone says, "We're getting bigger, newer jets" and when it is slow everyone says, "We're all going to be laid off in a week."

Yeah a little to early I'd say. Hiring what we furloughed and the old FO's have moved on to other jobs. Just hired 2 new Lear guys that are already in training.

Its Palenque time!!! Damn that stuff is good!

I'm a former piston IFL guy,(DC3s&CV340s),I was over Puerto Rico doing my day job last week ,when I heard "TransAuto" on the freq, that made me smile (we used to have a DC-4 based in PR back in '92), also I notice a lot more CV580s,and 5800s climbing out over Oakland co., its good to see you guys ,and gals flying,I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the IFL group. Godspeed !

Well it finally happened, we all did get laid off. But that's not the point of bumping this thread. How busy is the flying at the on-demands? There is obviously a little less lift out there, are you guys picking up the slack, or is there nothing to pick up?

haven't noticed any difference since usajet had the big lay off.

I'm starting to believe that on-demand really is dead.

Not a good year for GM

On February 12, 2008 GM announced its loss of $39 Billion. The biggest loss of any U.S. Automaker. GM has offered buyouts to all its UAW members.

In March 24, 2008 GM reported a cash position of $24 billion, or $6 billion less than what was on hand September 31, 2007, which is a loss of $1 billion dollars a month. [44]

A further quarterly loss of $15.5 billion, the third-biggest in the company's history, was announced on 1 August 2008.[45]

I saw something on the news this morning about the auto companies lobbying recently, trying to get money from congress to bail them out of their slump.

I'm out of a job, but I am so sick of this socialist crap. How about we make CEO's take responsibility for their mistakes?

Hey - a bailout worked for Fannie & Freddie. Once the Dems agree to throw $30 Bill or so at GM, Ford, & Chrysler, the US Dollar will be devalued and on par with a peso... Go vote for that Marxist Obama and more will be on the way. He'll take it from the oil companies as a so called "windfall profit", but what about the actors that make $20 Mill for a movie?, or what about the pharma companies that rake in a 20% profit margin?, or, what about the movie studio that raked in $450 Mill recently for a movie? Oh - you like the idea of public healthcare - look at the cancer mortality rates for countries that have public healthcare versus the rate in the US - it's anywhere from 15 to 30% higher in those countries with govt healthcare... Sorry for the rant...

Reagan will turn over in his grave and we will all be required to read The Communist Manifesto... While McCain may not be the Reagan Republican we need, he would do much less damage to this great country than someone who wants to Socialize everything and redistribute wealth. The whole healthcare thing is what drives me nuts - why should responsible individuals be required to pay into a program that covers irresponsible individuals who require healthcare for their behavior initiated health problems??

Are people like you just trolling or are you really completely unable to connect the dots? Whose idea was the bailout of Freddie and Fannie and whose complete lack of regulatory oversight led to the absurd lending standards of the last 8 years? The Market didn't exactly work in this case did it? government intervention is unfortunately necessary at this point due to an unregulated and completely failed "market" environment. There was a lot of irony in today's stock market rally- it essentially rallied because the market thesis failed and the government had to bail them out.

I don't agree with a windfall profits tax, but people on both sides of the aisles are talking about that, oil companies are a popular whipping boy so politicians exploit that- nothing new. Your new VP pick Palin even currently reaps the benefit of them- http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/09/03/EDAR12MTTR.DTL

As for the cancer stuff, I have no idea where you people come up with this crap - http://www.pnhp.org/single_payer_resources/CAN_Comparison_Sheet.pdf

And whats your point about the pharmaceutical profits? that they should be government regulated? or what?

The final fascinating fact of Canada's health system is that the Canadian government, despite their health care being nationalized, *still* pays less per capita on healthcare than the U.S. government. (you can pull the per capita numbers from here - http://www.who.int/whosis/database/core/core_select_process.cfm?countries=all&indicators=nha )

All of this while having a lower infant mortality rate and a longer lifespan. Sounds like a total failure to me- a system that costs the taxpayer less money, costs the patient less money, guarantees equal care for everyone, and ensures higher quality in almost every statistically measurable field (but you gotta wait a few hours to see a doctor oh no socialized medicine has failed!)
