NWA says it will cut flights, ground planes

You and I both know that the lower end of the market needs to be protected to protect the high end main line jobs.
That said, we need to do something about scope now, during these negotiations. It is best time. For once there is something besides money that management is looking for from the pilots. Yes, it still comes down to money, but this is time that we have their backs to the fire. I do not think that we collectively as a group get that.
The only why that this will be heard is to call your representatives and express your opinion. I know I have.
Fact is that Compass could be brought in to the fold very easily during this merger. It would solve a lot.

The reductions are in addition to the 2008 fleet plan.

Yeah i just read the email. Its a good thing i had a few beers with the crew before i read it. I really think all this is tied together with the merger. DAL and NWA mgmt are playing out of the same playbook with all this stuff. The good news is that they seem to be trying to be proactive by stopping hiring on both ends. They could have and in the past probably would have just kept hiring through summer just to furlough people after the busy summer was over with. Both companies are pretty lean and both companies are getting more aircraft so either way more pilots are going to be needed. Maybe i should go back down for another beer :beer:

Agreed, regardless of our differences if this is going to happen we need to stick together. 1 solid pilot group has a lot more control then 2 divided pilot groups. Cheers!!:beer:

For my part... cookout in Marietta for all Cobb County Delta guys and NWA commuters if this thing is announced... no fighting... keg is on me and the wife. Only wish that if they really wanted to do this thing that they would have announced the merger during crawfish season.... With a couple hundred dead mudbugs, some corn, some potatoes, and some heat, there ain't nothing you can't work out.
