After the news from DAL the past two days, I keep thinking NWA has been very quiet. Where's their MEC letter? Where's Steenland's cost reduction plan?
It is obvious, that in a seniority cost based business, that junior employees are less expensive, i.e; more profitable. That's why DAL just offered early outs to a mindboggling 30,000 employees. Yes, I know they're only hoping for 2,000, but don't you think if they could replace more with cheap new hires, they would?
So, with Steenland preaching shrinkage, and belt tightening, what are the chances of NWA offering early outs to their pilots to save money in the long run?
Also, (you can probably see where I'm going with this), wouldn't such a move pave the way for a merger? Massive early retirements? Anyone from NWA?
