Hoping for the best for you, but.....

lets hope this is the first big step in the right direction!!

I hope you guys come out on top.
Looks bad that AFA was voted down by DL FAs...call me a cynic, but I would make &*%$% sure that NW guys are protected from being furloughed first. I get suspicious when I see how DL pilots are being "led" (in w/mgt), and also seeing "438" planned to hire in Fall of all times.

Be VERY suspicious about the potential for attempts to make the playing field FURTHER unequal
in hopes of mgt getting the pilots to decertify ALPA. Lee Moak also adds to the raised suspicions by his actions, and I HOPE that he hasn't been drawn to the allure of big compensation for leading you mgt's way.

You know that decertification is the next move against AFA and the mechanics union.

Good luck guys...hoping for the best

I think DAL mgmt knows not to toy around with the NWA pilot group any further and they need this done just as much as we do. We shall see

Our FA's have enjoyed their "relationship" with management, and it is no secret that if DL takes care of the ATL FA's (the largest base), then they will never vote in the AFA. All they have to do is make sure 50.000001% don't vote for it. So, they treat the ATL stews the best, with better trips etc. No secret there.

What about the rumor that we will be hiring? Maybe, I guess. I don't know if that will be true with even higher gas coming. Why would they hire in the FALL? Well, we are a "Spring/Summer" airline, which are our two larest seasons. We do a lot of training in the Fall and Winter, to prepare for those seasons. Also, we will be having seperate operating certificates for awhile (until the end of 09), and if we get new airplanes on our side, (737-700s, 777LRs, MD90s), then we will have to staff them. No secret there.

You don't really sound like the voice of reason, rather the voice of a paranoid person. We shall see.....

Bye Bye--General Lee

Not sure if you are joking, but the right side of the tail looks like that on all NWA planes... ???

Yes...that is the joke...(right side of NWA aircraft with new logo) has the pointer (Compass pointer) pointing to the northeast and left side points to the northwest...thus Northwest Airlines....original logo pointed to the northwest on both sides.....was a big oops when the new logo was put on. Someone forgot to notice this.

Um, you mean the voice of reality when discussing a company whose HR VP is one of the FOUNDING MEMBERS of union busting law firm Ford & Harrison (Delta). Such a great "relationship" that they needed Mike Campbell on property.
Keep fooling yourself...you'll wish you were so "paranoid" when you get a good taste of what that firm is all about. I am sure Continental pilots would be happy to tell you all about Mr. Campbell's stint there.

They didn't forget they just decided that it was more important to have a logo that was pointing forward than to have a logo that aligned with the name of the company. For some reason the people who design aircraft paint schemes always want the logo to point forward and recently they don't want all of the logo on the tail. Reference NWA, DAL, UAL, among others. I think they all used the same guy to design their liveries. US Airways apparently didn't get the memo because the logo actually fits on the tail, but for some reason the flag on the right side of the airplane flies upwind.

I agree on the logo pointing forward. It is like the American flag that you see painted on the fuselage. Same thing there. Also I heard that it may have been cheaper to paint them with both arrows pointing the same way. Just what I have heard as an explanation for the "error" It just gets accentuated when you have an airline named Northwest and you are pointing in the wrong direction. Believe me, plenty of people can draw their own conclusions from this error.

Still hope we are heading in the right direction.

Before I place you on my ignore list.....

The NWA should get furloughed if their 9s go away...AND DAL guys should get furloughed if the 9s stay and 88s go away. So stop your cheerleading for airlines you don't work for.

Second....the ugly truth is the word "merger' is just to make the media happy. Its not a merger...it's an acquisition.
I want to obtain a fair SLI, if nothing else, for the sake of working with happy people, but fair is fair. However, with this not actually being a "merger" there are some crazy expectations and wants out there...if those goes to arbitration and the arbitrator views it as an acquisition.....it might get ugly.

Call it what you want, but the very worst arbitration would most likely result in a nic award. There will not be anything resembling aa/twa again. You say fair is fair care to give your definition of fair? And if you say relative seniority give me your exact idea of what that would be?
