Mesaba

At the RAA last year, it was clearly explained that NWA was unlikely to keep their position in Pinnacle. That was not said about Mesaba.

One of the concerns that Pinnacle has is this fact. Think about it, they can use Mesaba to keep a totally separate Pinnacle in line.

You are right on the fact that they may well be tied for years to come. Nevertheless, as these companies become more separated, the likelyhood of things like flow through and other contract issues like one list go further away.

I guarantee NW will retain a significant amount of stock in Pinnacle when the IPO goes through. They will not have any seats on the BOD, otherwise. This also gives them a say in the day to day operation of the airline and will allow them to dictate the make-up of any future code-share arrangement and any future expansion.

In the case of Pinnacle and COEX, it has been stated by NWA and Continental that they intend to own no part of these and all guarantees of flying or relationships can well be gone in two years.

I'm pretty sure that NWA and Pinnacle have agreed(sp) to sign a 10 year exclusive service agreement when the IPO happens.

Nevertheless, as these companies become more separated, the likelyhood of things like flow through and other contract issues like one list go further away.

A flow through and a merged seniority list are totally different.

This proposal/idea was made by NWA DTW LEC, not the MEC. If this did ever happen it would be many years down the road, and there would certainly be many fences put into place.
