Why is an ATR pilot posting about politics on a thread about NWA class dates?

Probably because we live in a free society and probably cause he sees that you post in the regional section.

But hey, if we don't work for NWA I guess we don't have a clue about the airlines.

I wonder if the over 60 guys are staying because they want to see what happens with the merger and if they will get the equity or be bought out?

at the risk of angering my NWA friends...

I understood that NWA pilots not staying past 60 was a critical piece of the NWA pilots' negotiating strategy for SLI with Delta. (attrition that Delta wouldn't have).

Does this change the validity of that argument?

What an idiot. I posted info related to the thread in the regional section, plus it was about NWA/Compass.

I'm trying to help the guys who want to be here, I have useful info that may be relevant.

If that's your son in your avtar...try spending time with him instead of ALWAYS being on FI. Everytime I log on(which is only a few times per week) you are here. What a pitiful and boring life you must lead!

Good point, I guess time will tell.

Maybe maybe not, if they get bought out either way then no. I guess we will see.

The key part to that is that none of them have to retire. Maybe they enjoy flying a few times a month to interesting places. We have Delta stews that love to fly once a week with their "friends" (they buddy bid) and go shopping in Madrid or Paris with people they have worked with for 30 plus years. It is more of a social thing than a "customer service" type thing. Some of these senior pilots may pick the flying lifestyle over the golf course.

Bye Bye--General Lee

maybe maybe not, they still will take a hit on their pensions every year they stay past 60. They still have their pension that will pay out nicely to call it quits. I think they are staying just to see what the equity stake will be if any and then they will bail. I have spoken with a number of senior guys that say IF and thats a big IF they stay past 60 it would probably only be til 62. most however say they want out before 60 and will leave if they can.fwiw

Good points, but the fact that they are not retiring as fast as some thought they would be, or could be, can and will likely be used against the NWA pilot group by any DAL negotiator worth their salt. Arguing that they will suddenly leave after an equity payout and then using that as career expectations for the NWA side of the equation will probably not get by too many arbitrators if it comes to that.

I've flown with senior guys that work 20 days on, flying 90+ hours a month, like there's no tomorrow... When I ask them why, some said their wives won't let them stay home! I guess those will work till 65... I hope that's not the majority at NW.

Boy, Touchy Touchy. LOL

No, I just like to put you in your place when your responses are inaccurate. I laugh at your feeble attempt to look knowledgeable.

Easy now! Just because you go around braggin about sharpining those insturment skills in the DC9 doesn't make me less knowledgeable. :-)

I'm so sure they tell you their true plans. LOL

They are all staying and you and they know it. Don't be such a gullible nerd.

1) I don't brag. It's much better to show humility then to act like an ass.

2) See your quote below:

Glass does one thing, it narrows your scan to a more smaller defined area. Never said glass didn't make life easier.

By looking at a Flight Director you have the luxury of not looking at your Alt, A/S, VSI, Heading. Basically reducing your scan.

If you wanna sharpin your insturment skills either in Glass or Steam. Just turn off the flight director and hand fly.

Like I said, its all the same. Modern Glass just narrows the scan area and makes life easier.

All the same, you pull back houses get smaller. You push forward and they get bigger.

If you keep pulling back, they get smaller and then all the sudden get bigger really fast.

Okay, your all pilots now. So Go have fun with the profession you have chosen.

More quotes from this intellectual genius ...

Dang, I only have the Poor Man's Glass experience!
Called Ghetto Glass.

WOW, I just found out I must be a good insturment pilot then!!! Yeaaaa.

I gotta get GL to walk my resume into Delta now!

Seems to me this shows how full of crap you are! You think you know everything. This is great, I love to debate you.

I just wanted to clarify that i do nothing but post flames and that in reality i have been turned down by every major airline i have ever interviewed with  . That has caused me to be very bitter and that is why i post the way I do.

I am proud of you Pocono it takes a real "nerd" to come on here and post the way you do!

And now for one of the better quotes from a fellow FI poster about WSurf:

Wow...I used to think this guy posted some decent info...After this, I am clearly wrong....obviously not one that offers credibilty in his response....Lets hope this is a "one off" poor reply to a subject he is clearly off base with no decent intelligence on

Okay, Lets Tell everyone the orginal question there SpiderMonkey Boy.

Someone asked the question. "What are the Chances of a Flowback into Compass."

Okay, My response to the persons question was this.... I could see that happening to Compass if NWA started parking DC9's at a faster rate because of fuel prices soaring higher.

You and Sir Inncoenti told me that I was clueless and dumb. That I didn't work at NWA and had no clue.

Then what happens a week later? People start talking about DC9's be parked at a faster rate. Not that I would like to see that happen. But someone asked a question and I gave a hypothetical answer.
Get overself, its a airline message board.

So again I asked you, "How you like dem Apples".

Source?

I didn't have a problem with your opinion, I had a problem with your cockiness and attempted statement as a know fact.

I also said NO ONE knows what will happen, especially you...someone with no knowledge or interest in what happens at NWA or Compass. That's why you're clueless. However you kept spouting off.

Nice spin, but once again you show your ignorance. You're so easy to prove wrong. Keep "dem apples" (and insults) coming, just makes you look more foolish.

At no time was I cocky. Anyone can go back and read the thread. The only person I had a problem with on that thread was you.

Anytime, your welcome to join me for a drink and cigar down here in Ol' New Bern NC. Get General Lee down here too, you and I do the fishing and let him get the crawdads!!!!

But the dock is looking great, we got water and Power ran down on it. Nice little runways lights leading down to the end.

The only problem you have is your ego can't admit your wrong. No one has any idea how fast or slow 9's will be parked, especially you.

How was I wrong? I just stated that if fuel continues to go up there could be a chance the DC9's might go at a faster rate. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. One that you have to see if it happens or not.

I think since your a DC9 pilot at NWA you took it as a personal attack against you and your airline. If you did, I am sorry. Never meant for it too be.

Your right, I don't know. But I just stated that the Fuel Guzzling, Maintaince Hog DC9's might leave the fleet faster.

Its just a thought I had, didn't mean for it too hurt your feelings. Sorry!

Note to everyone of Flight Info! Don't ever think outside the box. Don't make any assumptions or even dare try to predict what might happen at an airline (especially NWA and DC-9's)

This could cause certain members to have there circuit breakers to pop and feelings to be hurt.

We don't need anymore of that.

MJ42, I am truely sorry.
