Hi!

I read that OPEC stated that they believe the min floor price for oil is now $90. They believe that would be the price if all the speculation and geopolitical uncertainties were removed from the per barrel price.

Yep. Classic textbook "higher highs and higher lows" stratedgy. The price goes up for ANYthing, real or immagined, yet rarely goes down when not only nothing happens, but when inventories are brimming. When inventories fall to an apocalyptic "three year low!!!!!!!!!!!" in between levels so high that they sometimes exceed our ability to refine and store it, it still goes up.

Now trillions are vanishing worldwide because of the fake housing mess we endured (thanks property flippers for the bubble, and if its not too much trouble, may we bail you out of your bad decisions? It would be our pleasure!) :smash: So everyone dumps to oil, and the more that do, the more that want to, just like housing. Eventually it will collapse, but unlike housing, this time people have realized that they can lure the sheeple into following the oil carrot for a lot longer. Now the big financial firms who just so happen be wrapped up in tons of high priced oil futures (translation: banks would get burned now by an oil collapse as hard or harder than the housing bubble) are moving swiftly to control public perception to protect the value of their speculatove futures by drastically upping their oil price projections for the next 2 years. That effects the price of, guess what, today's futures which protect the long term viability of their previous futures. How convienient for them.

NWA 4-21 class postponed til 4-28, which will be the last class for an undetermined amount of time.

All slots in the class will be ANC 747FE.

Deferral option puts deferree at bottom of present pool, about 75-80 right now.

NOT RUMOR, I was affected. NW HR called me this evening.

That sucks. I'm supposed to be in the class after you. I haven't heard from them yet

I got a call today, my 5/5 NWA classdate indefinately canceled.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you didn't quit your current job early and you still have a job. I just read about a former regional guy who went to UAL (I think) and he is now furloughed without an opportunity to return to his regional. Again, a closer look at Netjets might be in order for many people - my application is already in.

United didn't furlough anyone this time around. What are you talking about?

That sucks... I guess you'll be able to continue commenting on the low pay at Allegiant and others for a while longer.

Karma sure is a b***H, aint she.

Clippyrip,

What "good trips" are on the horizon? Are you staying in ANC or trying to bid off? How many are trying to get out of ANC FE? I am really struggling with the prospect of months and months of commuting to ANC for $30/hour.

Thanks,
Busdriver

Well, considering you have no seat lock and can bid a different aircraft immediately you wont have months and months of commuting to ANC. (this is not directed at Busdriver but is a general comment) If anyone doesnt want that class call them and defer it and let someone from the may class in who does want it.

I don't have a problem with Allegiant. Their pay is low, but if I lived in one of their domiciles I would consider them

I think the pilots are being told that there will be no openings anywhere for a while. This could equal a few months of commuting. Maybe longer, maybe shorter.

Superpilot,

I WOULD defer it but the penalty is going to the BOTTOM of the pool for doing so. I am leaving me current position because I don't want to commute for the rest of my career (I live in DTW). I was 99% certain I'd be the most senior in my class because I'm older than most people going to NW (from what I've heard), so I was never worried about ANC. Now this.

Until someone can tell me exactly how many people in ANC (of the most junior as there's obviously a good number who want to be there) have something else on their cards (and what), and exactly what these good trips are, I have to look at it as an onerous commute on $30/hour.

Heyas,

Adding to the oil price problem is the extreme weakness of the dollar right now, which is how oil is priced.

If the dollar were 1:1 to the Euro right now, oil would be around $70, or so the talking head on CNBC says.

Cutting interest rates to bail out a deflating economy isn't helping this at all. As long as the dollar is very weak, the high prices will remain very high.

Nu

So, in other words: All these greedy airline managements are finally starting to know what's its like to have the buying power of your dollar hit the toliet? If you look at most majors, year over year, pilots are making a lot less than say 20 years ago............
