The interesting thing is that several of the Pacific routes have frequencies that are linked to "freight only".

If the 747F rumor is true, then mama DAL must be willing to give those frequencies up completely. They can't be sold outright because they are entangled with the passenger authorities.

I heard that as well. Also, the loads I've seen are always full so I'd be a little shocked if $40 oil doesn't shoot some life back into the freighters. We are adding an ATL flight in March which seems odd if they are almost gone.

Bastian told our class last week he thought the freighters will be gone soon. He said if FDX is having trouble making money, they NWA Cargo is not doing well.

Good thing there is that little furlough clause in the SLI for the DAL guys. Such a sweet deal, DAL parks NWA airplanes under the guise of a combined company, yet only NWA guys will take the hit. Almost as if the arbitrators knew this would happen.....

Can you tell me which other cargo 742 operators ARE NOT parking their 742s? Kalitta is parking 8 of their 20 747s (while keeping their 744 cargo birds). World Airways has 744s, not 742s. Evergreen and Atlas are also parking 742s. All of the Asian cargo carriers have switched to 744s. The 742 is too costly, and we knew that before the SLI and DCC. And now that you guys are our brothers, I hope it works out well for ALL OF US. Cargo demand across the WORLD is declining (look at the FedEx forcasts, as DHL pulls out of the US). Hopefully we keep those 2 pax 742s for MAC charters.

They might try to negotiate a conversion of some of the freighter slots into pax/freight slots. If that's the case, any aircraft that fly in a former freight slot could be considered a "replacement aircraft" since the 747-200s were fenced in the award.

I smell an arbitration if it comes to that...

If you announce parkings before SOC, and have displacements, then I think that falls under the part where your side takes the hit. Sad but true. No DAL guys should take a hit for the parkings of planes coming from the FNWA side, and I think most people would agree with that, especially before SOC. If they plan no cargo only flights and only have belly freight, then there would not be any "replacement" aircraft for those particular 74Fs. I think they will move some A330s to take some current cargo slots at NRT (like possible new service NRT to BOS), and maybe use current 767-300s etc to NRT and move planes around. Your pilots get planes, not slots. If certain planes go away, they you should get credit for new planes that replace them specifically. Again, you don't get credit for "slots" at airports. IF Delta decided to move some MD88s over to NRT to take those cargo slots and start intra Japan flying, should your guys demand to fly them? The 742s are old and were going to go away anyway. You can't arbitrate your way out of everything. Some things are bound to happen.
