So now ASA has a No Pressure fatigue call procedure added to the FOM, but when you do feel fatigued you have to call crew scheduling(ok sounds good so far), but then you have to call the CP and explain to him why your tired and if he does not like your answer he will dock your pay even if you flew 7hrs that day 3.95hrs for the month, and now you have to fill out a mandatory report explaining it in detail your days leading up to you being too tired to fly! Oh yeah no pressure at all. Can you say harassment.

As long as Scott's junk yard dog Ken Smith is employed in the CPO, the pressure to not call in fatigue is enormous. Trust me, you will only do it once.

I honestly don't know why ALPA has taken his level of intimidation to Capitol Hill or down the street to CNN. They would have a field day with this.
 
Ken has always been reasonable to me. It's Randy that seems to be the bad cop now.
 
We just added something similar to our GOM. I've called in Fatigued twice. The first time sucked and almost ended up with a free trip to the CP's office, but my written explanation was enough. Now we have to fill out a survey. If they review the survey and find that the fatigue call seems "unwarrented" then they hand it over to the CP who can then disipline if needed. So can still get in trouble. If you flew that day they cant touch the pay that you flew...but anything that gets pulled from your sched is taken away at 100% since you can't use sick time to cover it.
 
Depends on their mood. Depends on the circumstances behind the fatigue call.

"I share a car with my roomate" is not a valid fatigue call as far as getting paid is concerned.
 
That's what I'm saying, a carpet dance with KS, a possible complete day of pay lost off your month, and mandatory forms to fill out. Let me think? Aww screw it I'm exhausted but that is to much hassle, lets go. And don't throw the Professional flag either, it needs to be a no questions asked in the name of safety especially with the bad rap the regional industry has after the last few accidents. Hello FAA
 
I like the wolf in sheep's clothing Fatigue Risk Survey or whatever they're calling it. No pressure there. Just explain details of your personal life, sleep habits, insomnia, etc. and let the company do with it what they please..

Do it more than once and you might earn a trip to the ASA payrolled physician down in the hood. He'll come to the conclusion you've got sleep apnea or some other disorder and you'll be permanently out of work until you find the money to pay a real attorney and doctor.

It always helps when the fatigue database is maintained by the "safety" department.

I'm just going to assume that I'm not getting paid and if that's the case I'm not going to waste much time trying to justify myself to anyone. Most every dealing I have with the CP office leaves me wondering why I bothered talking to them in the first place anyway.
