Very classy there, Frontier. Nothing like ripping on an airline's run of bad luck - of which every airline has had, or will have.

The two of you make a great pair. I'll make sure I keep my mouth shut if Frontier dicks one up.

An airlines run, huh? Nothing like coming in on final and seeing another AA plane off the side of the runway, or being advised to avoid a runway because an AA plane hit approach lights and the runway is full of debris.

From a SWA crew in the hotel shuttle. They have 2 stacks of resumes. One stack has over 8000 resumes that meet the minimums. The other stack has roughly 2000 resumes that have the following...a college degree, 2000+ PIC turbine, and a type rating. There was a fourth item. I believe it was internal reccomendation, but it slips my mind right now...guess which pile they are recruiting from. Take it for what it's worth.

The only thing I could to say to that is there are many "know it alls" in this business and I think you were talking to one of them.

I personally know the pilot leading the interview team and he doesn't talk about the selection criteria exept that it changes often.

And no, he doesn't tell me either.

Good luck to all.

Wow, that is really professional. I always make d@#n sure not to make fun of another airline's misfortune cause karmas a real b!tch.

karmas a real b!tch

and so is her sister, I dated her for a while until I wised up! :)

Sorry for the (lame) comic relief, you guys were getting way to serious on me with the NTSB stuff................
We've all screwed up at one point or another, the real experts are the guys that can stop the frieght train before the crossing, smooth it over with the controllers supervisor and/or keep their butts out of the Chief Pilots office!
The guys that can do that while smiling at the passengers and managing a crew well enough so that they look forward to flying with you again are the type pilots that SWA is looking for.................

And your point is?....

Every airline has a run of bad luck, which can last for a few years. I can name every major airline over the past 4 decades.

Now substitute an AA plane for a Frontier plane (yes, it could happen to you, too.) then you won't see me making fun of a Frontier off-roading. You know why? Because it can happen to anybody.

Instead of criticizing, how about waiting to see what really happend, i.e hydraulics problem. Show a little humility and professionalism. These things can happen to anyone.

Why is it that a guy like me that has been flying 135 cargo in a Lear 25 for 6 yrs is not as good as guy flying a saab for AE. Everyone that works for a regional says that, but how many times have they had to fly at fl410 with no autopilot, radar or a F.O.that can't even talk on the radio. I am sure that there job is no cake walk but I wont down them. We all choose our path to get to where we want. As for me I have wanted to work for SWA as long as I can rember. So I chose the path with fast upgrade and advancement. My thought is untill you do the other guy's job dont look down on him.

HAPPY TO BE FRIGHT TRASH!!!!!!!!!! FOR NOW.

That's why they crash airplanes and kill a couple of hundred people every few years.

Pretty asinine statement considering that UAL hired a lot of pilots with 0 turbine PIC. Although UAL has not been a well managed airline they are leaders when it comes to quality of training and CRM. UAL has an enviable safety record and does a lot more than operate narrow body aircraft domestically. I'm not slamming WN in any way, just pointing out that UAL operates several airframes and does a lot of international flying. WN also has a great safety record. I'm just not convinced that it's because they hire folks with 1000 turbine PIC.

I feel that my time in the left seat will make me a better FO at my next job so I can see why SWA wants PIC experience. By requiring a 737 type they eliminate some good potential new hires though.

Skywest has never had a run of bad luck!

Just messin' with you guys! Karma is a real pain. Careful what you say. As for AA73... Well, HE'S THE BEST #$%$ PILOT IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, and F.O.'s have great experience keeping the old crusty Captains from screwing up! Fly safe!

Everyone gets there turn in the barrel...

AA is having a bad luck run.........anyone from F9 talking smack now may be in for it. We have AT LEAST 4 Captains who will probably be the first to screw up our pretty good safety record. Complete idiots with NO business being Captain on Part 121 carrier. Sad fact is, the training deptartment knows who they are, but no ones willing to fire some one who, for instance, had IOE in the triple digits.....We also hired some folk with ZERO PIC and some in the last hiring boom. Why? I hear if your kid plays soccer with the right F9 managers, and you'll get an interview, with ZERO PIC. Is kinda sad, but we luckily we the vast majority of folks as top notch, but I'd feel better if there was less of that cra p. Again, our unwillingness to downgrade or fire the weak will make us ALL look bad. Weak IOE Captains signing off idiots, will make us ALL look bad. Flight Ops management who know fhis and unwilling to cull the herd, will make us ALL look bad. Every operation has them, the question really is: What do ya do with them once they are there?? Fly safe.........and always be mindful that the next jet in the ditch just be wearing YOUR paint job........

Thanks SKYW Pilot, just remember, you trained me... airspeed failures, generator glitches, icing.... ahh the memories.

Preliminary report on the DEN incident - the nosewheel was cocked 90 degrees during touchdown, crew unaware. They did a great job, no injuries. so BACK OFF Y'ALL!

:D , 73

90 degrees? If they had had more PIC turbine, they would have been able to use their xray vision to look through the fuselage and see the nosewheel was over. AND they would have been able to keep it on the runway. Stupid hiring department!

Well, yeah, the no PIC turbine really did them in... but you also have to consider that with the MD80 being as advanced as it is, they were probably lulled into complacency, and didn't bother checking.
